Anyone using fiber optic broadband?

Here is southern Indiana, Cinergy has their own firber optic broadband called Broadreach. Been around since Spring, but don't know anyone at work that has it, a girl from work is supposed to get it installed first of Nov. Speeds and prices sound too good to be true.
Is Fiber optic supposed to be faster than cable? Surely faster than my Verizon DSL.

Wanting to switch to something besides my dsl, had been thinking about going to Comcast, but then heard about this. So anyone using this?

Look up Verizon FIOS. Can be much faster than cable. Upload speeds crush cable speeds. The downside (for me at least) is having them come and dig up my yard to bury the wire from the pod.

I SO wish FIOS were in my area. I don't live in the big city, so I suspect it'll be years before I could get something like FIOS.
