Anyone with an ASUS A7M266

I am wanting to lower my multiplier and raise my fsb to 266. After doing the pencil trick will I be able to use the bios to adjust the multiplier.

No, the Asus A7M266 doesn't allow you to change the multiplier. The Iwill KA266 and FIC AD11 do allow you to change multiplier, but have their own set of problems. Personally I'm waiting for the VIA KT266 boards to come out.

The Asus A7M266 is probably the most stable AMD 760 board out there. The only major problem everyone is having with the board is the lack of on board multiplier adjustments. I just got done modifing my board with 470 Ohm 1/2 Watt resistors by connecting them to the BP_FID pins on the back of the board to the 74125F chip on the front. I took out the default 4.7K Ohm resistors in the RN20 and RN19 positions. Then, connected 4 more 470 Ohm resistors in parallel with the correct corresponding resistors. It's kind of complex when you think about where the other four resistors have to be in parallel to, but the results are worth it.

Adam, Buddy I'm sitting there reading your story man. And I have to wonder what the purpose was for that modification. You never did say. Although you now have my attention. I would like to know if it gave you bios controll for multiplier adjustments or do you have to change the resistors for each multiplier setup?

The purpose of the modification? I thought that was a given. I wanted to run my Athlon at 9 x 133. I can't override the default without making the modification. The modification is only allows physical manipulation. Which is pretty good considering I only want one multiplier.
