Indeed there is no way I will vote for Trump in 2020 or considering what the GOP has become, not even consider voting for any Republican.

I mean even assuming Trump isn’t lying at all about the contents of Mueller’s report (extremely unlikely) then the results of this are that...he hasn’t committed felonies in this particular area. That’s his re-election fuel? Hahaha.

And if being unfairly investigated is supposed to help you get elected then shouldn’t Clinton be president? She was investigated far more for far less, after all, and she was vindicated in the end too.

Person anyone that get elected to President and there is evidence of foreign interference or influence of elections should be calling for complete investigations of the matter.

So where are the apologetic democrats? Where?!

You guys have put Donald Trump through so much for no reason.

Now you have virtually assured his re-election.
When US conservatives apologize for the multiple nothingburgers they spent years investigating, maybe I'll think about it, once Strongman Trump is actually cleared of anything at all.

Thanks for the concern, nitwit.

Aw! Poor Donald! He can't take the heat. He should get out of the kitchen.

What have we put him through? I'd like to put his whole family through an industrial meat grinder, put them in little white packages, sell them around the world as Wimpy-burgers to be s*** out a rainbow of assholes to equalize their social standing.

Then, I could cough up a sticky, gooey COPD wad and spit it in your face.

There's an apology for you. When I was a kid, we "liked Ike". We accepted Tricky Dick. We respectfully and patiently accepted that Reagan couldn't remember. We lived our lives through Jorge HWB and Dubya -- who were, after all -- gentlemen, even as a dynasty.

But you have none of our respect for electing this Piece of Filth. None. F*** your vote, and f*** you . . . . too. Why don't you self-deport to Antarctica, where everything is White? Then -- America would be "great again".

Your apology has been rejected.

Try again.

I haven't read the full report. Tell us exactly what's in it then we can discuss its merits. A link would be required of course with that precise information.

Therein lies a problem. Barr has to pass this on to his boss Trump who has the power to sanitize it in the name of "national security". That is defined as anything a President wants to keep out of the public eye. So you will always be dealing with a coverup problem as Trump is well known for lying about most everything.

We know Trump has committed at least one felony and there may be more, but if Barr decides not to prosecute for any reason then Trump can bury it. Trump cannot stand anything that insults him and so it is his nature to do all that is in the power of the Office whether proper or not to protect himself.

So what basis for an apology is there? At the moment none.

There likely is a fair amount of material in the report that should be redacted. Legitimately classified information (intelligence sources, etc), grand jury deliberation transcripts, etc. The bigger holistic problem which is perhaps insolvable is that DoJ is an executive function under POTUS. In an ideal world I guess Special Counsel and similar oversight/investigative functions could be a 4th branch of government or the office overseen by the SCOTUS but that would likely take an act of Congress if not an Amendment.

That being said, this thread is shit and perfect example of why this forum is becoming increasingly irrelevant as a means of having reasonable conversations or actually learning something from those with different opinions than you. Instead it's becoming the forum version of the Jerry Springer show where it's 100% about the spectacle and people behaving badly as performance art.

"Fredericksburg! Fredericksburg! Fredericksburg!"

This issue was addressed by the (at least two) previous special councils submitting their reports to Congress, not to the JD. I wonder why precedent was broken here?

Arguing politics is for the most part taking a far lower priority right now. I need to do a number of things starting now that simply are more important. When it gets cold again or if something major changes then I reserve the right to change. But doing a complete restore on a canoe is more productive than arguing with the foolish.

I'm presuming the statute that created the special counsel spells out what the special counsel deliverable is and to whom. And what redactions if any should be made to those upon delivery. As I pointed out there are likely several redactions (for privacy and constitutional reasons) the special counsel law specifically calls out. If those things are unclear the law should be updated accordingly. If AG is not following through on the law then Congress should subpoena and/or impeach the AG.

IANAL but I'm guessing there's 3 versions of a special counsel report; one "full" version that contains stuff even Congress might not see (e.g. stuff covered by attorney-client privilege, grand jury stuff, etc), one "classified" version that goes to designated committees of Congress that has classified information in it, and a "public" version which Joe Public gets to see. It's not covering up for Trump or whitewashing anything to state this, just a reasonable amount of common sense.

The problem, of course, is that Barr can't necessarily be trusted to do that in an honest way. So far, it's looking like the Nunes memo more than I'd like. I don't see how any of it is covered by attorney-client privilege or why the entire report cannot be made available to Congressional intelligence committees in a closed door environment, either.

Brandolini's law looms large in all this. The sad truth behind it is that all too many conservatives will believe falsehoods long after they've been debunked. It's a cumulative thing, the dismal side of loyalty.
