Been looking at the 23" Apple Monitors for a while now and the price seems to have dropped at the Apple Store...

20" Now: $999 Was: $1,299
23" Now: $1,799 Was: $1,999
30" Now: $2,999 Was: $3,299

Watch for the price to drop on amazon for free shipping no taxes... =)

and the new DUAL 2.3Ghz G5 servers are out as well

Yes qulAKle. The 30" requires a special video card to run at the native resolution, however the 20" and 23" are standard DVI connections and will work with any PC with DVI.

I was researching those beautiful apple monitors and found out that HP was using the same dislplay for their 23". The HP 23" was around $1600 last year and you could find it for under $1500.

That 20" is still way overpriced. I am very happy with my dell 20" ws for $610 shipped.

WRONG! OK, maybe wrong is a little too harsh. I do understand that single-link DVI is supposed to max out at 1920x1080 @ 60Hz. However, someone has seemed to debunk that thinking.

About time. It was kind of embarrassing that I bought a 2005FPW for half the price of a 20" Cinema and I wound up feeling like I paid too much because I didn't go out and buy a Dellf coupon on eBay. Assuming you don't get one with a nasty backlight bleed, the Dell is still a better deal than the 20" Cinema since it is a heck of a lot more functional (the stand is height-adjustable and allows for 90 degree screen rotation, more video inputs, better USB port placement) despite not being quite as sexy.

Hopefully the better availability and lower costs on the 20" widescreen panels will also translate into some price cuts on the 20" iMac soon.

6800s in general can support DDL, so the Asus probably does. That seems to be the only card besides the 6800's on the Mac that hit that rez, but the product info on Nvidia's site say the 6800s support DDL, so its probably a manufacturer thing. At the time the 30"s came out, I don't believe this Asus card was available.

EDIT: btw, I'd like to see that guy hook up two 30" to his 6800. I would be impressed if he could do it. I've seen it on a Mac...

Running two 30" displays requries the special Apple Geforce card to drive both of them.

I've heard that the apple 20" cinema is the same screen as the dell 2005fpw, is this true?
