The difference is that Surface Pro runs full windows, which will easily grow to be 30GB. iOS has a far smaller footprint that does not grow over time due to updates like windows. But I agree it should be 64GB.

The thing is though, you get a full OS on the Surface Pro. I can't imagine doing any real work on the iPad Pro. We'll see how it plays out, but it's not like they ported OSX to it, you know?

I'm wondering if I can put this iPad pro in front of our marketing dept and get them interested. If nothing else because we order a spare to support their equipment and would henceforth get to play with one

Same people who are the target market for the Surface Pro 3.

Nah, I know plenty of business people (and students) using the SP3. You can run all the basics on it (Office with Outlook, Autocad, MATLAB, and so on). The iPad runs apps; the Surface runs programs. Plus the whole multi-tasking environment is entirely different.

Their demos make doing work so easy but you don't ever see what it took to get to that point. Not to mention there are many "work" related things I couldn't do on one. Still no mouse support.

Couldn't have general business users using it because they'd get frustrated having to learn something new and wouldn't be as productive.

RDP + steam + corporate apps, et al = not the same target market. Sorry when I replace my SP2 it's not going to be an iPad Pro but an SP4.

I'd love to have an iPad Pro. But I am sure there is no way I can convince myself it's worth $950+$100+$170 ($1,120 with keyboard and pen).

And the Surface Pro 4 is probably coming very soon.

I would say only the people looking for a casual consumption device. Which for $1000 rules out large majorities of people. I still to this day don't see how people are productive or get real work done on an iPad. Maybe answer some email, but I'm sure as hell not writing a doc, working with data sheets that need to be converted or any other function.

I didn't notice, is there still no sd card slot? That's criminal if not.

What's criminal is locking out the battery upgrade & not having an SD slot, and then not making it waterproof

That'll never happen. Apple's strategy is to introduce a model with ridiculously little storage to make the starting price look good and then bend you over with the higher capacity models.

Oh man, the conversions are terrible for any serious business use! I don't even like working with the latest Office for Mac because it goofs things up because they aren't on the same revision as the rest of the world

Damnit. I don't give a shit about storage. I care about ease of importing photos....without goddamn adapters.

Yeah... The Roku and and even the XBox One have had this functionality for awhile now.

I mean...my iPazzPort has had gestures for awhile now too, you know? It's cool because it's from Apple & they do things very elegantly, but so far I'm not seeing anything mindblowingly new. a la cart cable-replacement packages is the thing I think would really shake things up in this segment. Can I just have the SyFy, Food Network, and Cartoon Network live streaming channels for $1.99 a month each please?

The one on the XBone sucks though, have not used the Roku's. It comes down to if its implemented well or not. The demo makes it look like it is, but will need reviews to see how good it really is.

The biggest catch with the FireTV iirc is that it defaults to Amazon for search, even if the show is available free on another service you subscribe to.

Will be curious to see how Apple's offering stacks up to the NVIDIA Shield. Android really struggles with a good GUI (plus controller-friendly games) & Apple imo owns the market for portable touchscreen gaming. I have so many fun little games on my iPhone it's not even funny. If they do gaming well, I'll probably pick one up because I really like lightweight gaming.
