I have to wonder how well iWatch will do the second time around regardless of how well it did the first time around. Lots of folks buy things like tablets and phones on an annual or at least bi-annual basis. Watches, for the most part, are bought once and typically a new one isn't purchased until the old one breaks. Can Apple make an item like a smartwatch be something that's purchased more frequently than your typical non smartwatch?

I upgraded both my phone and iPad last year so I am good there. I really want a new Apple TV, hardly use mine anymore. FireTV gets the most use. I also am interested in an Apple Watch 2 but don't expect one until next year.

It's kinda sad but the one thing that would excite me the most would be Apple making 32GB the base storage capacity. 16GB is insufficient in this day and age, especially if they're going to try advertising 4K recording and whatnot.

Unfortunately, that's not going to happen.

Actually I think 16 GB is fine for a lot of people, as a base model that is. What's more annoying is Apple's current low end models only have 8 GB! You can't even pay more to get a 16 or 32 GB 5c.

I hope they don't do something equally lame for the 5s. It seems the rumour mill is saying that September will bring the 6s and 6s plus, and keep the 5s around for the 4" model. Even having a 16 GB as the cheap 5s model would be far better than crippling it with only 8 GB.

BTW, I haven't decided yet if I'm going to upgrade from my 64 GB iPhone 5s. Although I do like the bigger screen of the 6/6s for two-handed use, I prefer the 5s for one-handed use. Also, the phone is still peppy, and has a decent camera with true burst mode. I may get a 6s, but who knows, maybe I'll wait until the iPhone 7 before upgrading.

However, I will upgrade my wife's iPhone 5 16 GB to a 64 GB iPhone 6s. 16 GB is OK for her, but not ideal since she takes a bazillion pictures and some videos of the kids. She could do with a camera upgrade too. Furthermore, she's been asking about getting an iPad mini, but perhaps if she gets an iPhone 6s, she won't need the mini anymore.

If I keep the 5s and she gets the 6s, that will be first time in our history that she would have a more advanced phone than me.

I'm hoping the announcement is that Apple has figured out how to fit more than 1GB of RAM into a cell phone.

The new iPhones are pretty much guaranteed to get 2 GB RAM (already in iPad)... but we won't hear about it at the launch.

They won't mention the RAM, even if it gets doubled to 2 GB. About the most info we'll get is from a third party geekbench leak or something.

iPad will come later.

An upgraded iPad is probably the only thing that I'm looking forward to this year. I'm using an iPad 4, which gets passed over quite frequently for my iPhone 6+. Although, it's not necessarily because of the 6+'s size, but actually because the iPad 4 lacks TouchID. I could get the Air 2, but there doesn't seem to be a good reason to get the current model when it's about to be replaced -- unless I want a small discount.

I want a new Mac Pro (desktop). When the last trash can system came out I didn't have the money for one. Now that I can afford the current one it is 2 years old.

Most people don't need that much space because they hardly use apps. I have a lot of friends who fill their phones with thousands of selfies, but they'd fill 16GB just as fast as 32GB because they never delete anything.

Though apparently 12 megapixels is coming too. That and 4K just seem like needless bullet points since 99% of your photos are being uploaded to the internet and compressed to hell anyway.

I honestly think they will refine the Apple Watch before releasing a new version. Yearly updates simply don't work, unless that yearly update adds a lot of functionality. If they can get all the issues fixed by a yearly update, fine, but I don't think they can.

Actually, they'd fill 16GB twice as fast. Which is my point.

Of the handful of iPhone users that I personally know very well (including my wife and my mom), none of them knew anything about Google Photos or any other free cloud photo storage service. My mom signed up for additional iCloud space without even realizing it. My wife's phone is always at or near maximum storage capacity. She has zero games on her phone, it's just photos and videos. So if the 6S is coming with improved camera specs, having that same pitiful 16GB of storage will be even more restricting. I don't get why anyone would try to defend this, it is simply Apple blatantly milking their fans for even more money, either to spend the extra $100 for 64GB, or to push them towards purchasing iCloud storage. There's no excuse, 32GB should be the minimum in this day and age, especially for how much these things cost.

I have had nearly every generation of iPhone from the 3g to today. I had one iPhone that was 32gb and the rest were the smallest available. I have no issues with a small size and would prefer to pay as little as possible for it. I use Spotify (and Apple Music... thanks Dr.Dre) for music and the only other thing taking up space is some photos and apps.

If Apple won't increase the capacity without increasing the price, I am totally against it.

I'm interested to see what they're doing with the Apple TV. I do have a Chromecast but it's a bit of a pain having it tethered to my phone.

All anybody knows is it's rumoured to cost $150-$200 and come with a motion control remote. I'm guessing dual core A8 with 1GB of RAM and 16GB built in storage for the base model. What remains to be seen is functionality. I almost guarantee there will be some sort of gaming aspect.

If it does go up to $200, that pushes it dangerously close to higher end Android TV options like the Shield TV. Here's hoping for local (non-network) video playback. Though I'm not holding my breath.

Honestly as soon next gen Apple TV drops I'm hoping for a discount on the older apple TV's - I just need HBO GO and airplay mirroring ^_^

Sure they can. 3 years from now, "Sorry the first generation of Apple watches will not work with our new iPhones" Or updating your iPhone to new ios version 9, 10, or whatever will make it not work with older Apple Watches. It will happen. At some point the first gen Apple Watches will be made obsolete by Apple.

I don't see that. Apple had been very good about keeping older phones up to date with OS updates. Of course older stuff doesn't get all the new features because of hardware restrictions. I imagine they will do the same here. Future version will have more accurate sensors, additional sensors, faster CPU, more battery life, etc. to entice people to upgrade. I can't imagine they will say you watch won't work because of an OS update. That's stooping low even for Apple.
