I had to leave the stream - release and preorder date?
For the iPhones, pre-orders this Sat. Sept. 12. Release date Sept. 25.

I guess I'll be up late Friday night.

16GB capacity yet they record 4K video? Really hope that A9 has a built in HVEC coder/decoder. 4K h.264 files are huge.
A8 already has this. However, it's only used for FaceTime right now.

AppleTV looks good. One thing is I dont think they mentioned if the ATV3 will get the new os too. I dont really need any of the new features, just the app store. I think I will be able to retire my other streaming boxes with this. Assuming there will eventually be an Amazon Instant Video app.

Now we just need a Geekbench leak confirming 2 GB RAM in the new iPhones.

Don't get that dopes sauce AppleCare coverage though.

It's not bad since it's basically the same thing the carriers are doing right now too. Also I wont lie, Apple warranty is miles above any Android phone I've had.

So Apple's Upgrade program is 40.75/month (6s+, 64gb, $899) and is basically far superior to ATT's Next, as far as I can tell.

Of course, if I go through Apple, doesn't that mean my ATT monthly rate should be cheaper since I'm basically bringing my own phone?

Yes, and you get AppleCare included, which would normally be extra.

Yes. I actually think it's a better deal since you also get to forgo your carrier's insurance too (which usually sucks and requires a deductible) and you get Apple Care+

Edit. I was wrong, Apple Care does have deductible and doesn't cover loss.

Where are you seeing this combination? I see 64GB 6s for $749 and $37.45/month.

I wonder why they don't just list a SIM-free option right out the gate? I wanna use the upgrade program with Straight Talk.

Figure if you can save...$10/month on the ATT plan, then after 2 years your savings is $240 + $99 from the applecare, which somewhat makes up for the loss of a resell-able phone.

dont see the point of the new apple tv. Was hoping it would offer a stronger reason to cut cable, rather than just being another streaming device.

Need a $35-$40 bundle with ABC/NBC/ESPN/FOX and a few others that I can access and search for live TV right from the AppleTV after i drop my cable subscription.

As of now the Roku looks as good and is cheaper than AppleTV.

A lot of the event appeared to me to be too much dressing and not enough meat.

Also
pay $32 a month and get a new iPhone every year, AppleCare included.

So you pay 32 a month? No upfront cost? The fuck is this?Is that US only? Will we get this in the UK?

So...upgrade program isn't (currently) available for those on prepaid plans like Straight Talk or Cricket? Or will the people at the Apple Store just not care about the bolded part below?

http://www.apple.com/shop/iphone/iphone-upgrade-program
The iPhone Upgrade Program is available to qualified customers only with a valid U.S. personal credit card. Requires a 24-month installment loan with Citizens Bank, N.A. and iPhone activation with a national carrier — AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, or Verizon. Full terms apply.

Do you get to keep the phone? Right now, you can pay that much and own it out right after two years, sell it and then put the money down on a new one.

That's probably the major catch of this program. I'm sure you can keep the old phone after paying some 'owning fees' or something. But I'm almost 100% sure that the natural order of the program is for you to turn in the old one if you want to get the new one.

It most likely has 2 GB RAM, because it would be an abomination not to have 2 GB RAM, but I haven't seen anything yet that actually confirms that.

BTW, iPad mini 4 is not really a slimmed down iPad Air 2. It's arguably more like a tarted up iPhone 6, at least in terms of the SoC, since it has A8 (not A8X). However, I don't know if that mini 4 has 1 GB or 2 GB RAM.

However, it'd better have 2 GB RAM too, because as mentioned, it would be an abomination not to have 2 GB RAM (at least in 2015).

But why do you need Apple Care if you're upgrading your phone every year?
