Apple & Windows Platform: Bookmarks & Passwords.

My wife and I share the same bookmarks & passwords in the past and would like to do so again. However she is a mac user with her own itunes account (macbook pro & iphone & ipad. I am a windows desktop user (win 7) with an iphone and soon to have ipad. I use firefox on my windows desktop and my wife uses safari.

Lastpass/Xmarks:
I have research password programs and currently use lastpass & xmarks. The reviews on this program working on ios are sketchy with many posts about lastpass/xmarks being unstable on the ios and causing the ipad to crash.

iCloud:
I realize that iCloud and sync bookmarks among ios however there are 2 problems. 1) iCloud cannot sync bookmarks automatically with firefox. I could manually export the files to firefox but they wouldn't be able to sync automatically. The other problem is that I am running a separate itunes account from my wife so having the bookmarks sync to the same icloud account could cause problems with contacts/calendars/etc....

Is there a 3rd party program that people have used with success for multiple users across multiple platforms?

If this isn't the right forum to post, please let me know if there is a better location on this board or possibly a better website which can help?

I know that just because a website says that their software can do something doesn't mean it works well in real life. I am looking for a tested and proven product like Lastpass/Xmarks that can work well in both Mac/Iphone/Ipad/Windows environment with 2 users.....

Are you looking for something to automatically sync between PC & Mac?
Not sure if there's anything better than LastPass, and maybe settling on using either: Safari or Firefox; & running the current version for the one browser on both computers: Windows and OSX.
A Windows machine can't access iCloud, correct?
Microsoft's (free) SkyDrive could serve as a common bookmarks remote storage location. Manually sync, or write a script to sync at system boot up.
Or, another possibility: set up a NAS on your LAN, and set up the Firefox (or Safari) bookmark storage location (for both computers) to the NAS. That would sync the bookmarks automatically, for the 2 local machines. Then set up the Mac to sync daily with iCloud, so that all the portable IOS devices could then be updated daily.

Good idea with the NAS. Hadn't thought of that one.

Let me play with them and see if I can make any of them work....

Google's Chrome browser could be another option.
It works with LastPass and is available for both Windows & OSX.

This was going to be my suggestion. Once I started using the Sync feature on Chrome it has become my only browser. Saves autofills, passwords, bookmarks, you name it. And if you hit "clear passwords" or "clear autofills" on one browser, it does them all.

Very ideal.

I'll be getting a macbook in the mail this week or early next week to see how well it works cross platform (I don't foresee an issue).

thirded, though it doesn't really help with ios devices. There is a lastpass browser for ios, but it's not well reviewed.

Google Chrome can sync everything include passwords I believe. Just need a gmail account.
