I've been to Canada a few times and found the people to be really nice and friendly. I heart Canada.

Some are really friendly, but I've dealt with a lot in business, and found the business ones are dick.

I think when I find out that somebody is from somewhere else we tend to be on our 'best behavior'
We also retain some our British heritage with the manners think.
I know when I talk to americans I try to be an 'ambassador' and when I travel I find the same when I'm in the states most people are very polite to me.
Cept that cop in Montana who hates us drunken teenagers rolling into town on the weekends 'back when drinking age was 18'

I agree with the posts above about the border guards - they definitely were not nice or friendly AT ALL.

The people at the border were pretty nice when they realized that two people in my car (Japanese citizens) didn't have their passports on them. They let us enter the country, then turn around. We filled out some paperwork and were out in 20 minutes. At the American border, however, they were jerks. Made us wait for TWO HOURS while they looked up my friends' names in the computer. Nevermind that we'd been in Canada for alll of 20 minutes. This was prior to the terrorist hysteria which now grips this country.

I've been to Canada, and I like what I see. It's very clean, too.

They're not awfully smart IMHO. I just reviewed the results of Solar Splash 2004 in Buffalo, and it was said their team had an estimated 100k+ budget, the highest in the competition. Yet they got beat EASILY. My school's team placed 12th but running on 25k and it being our first appearance, I consider that pretty good.

100k+ budget.... and lost.... stick to hockey, no offense.
