I have no problem with quotas for minority students in public (state) schools such as the UC system. No one group should be able to monopolize the school population. Not whites, not Asians, not Jews.
Private schools can set their own policies as they see fit.
Educated Americans have taken US history. It was Japanese Americans though.

Jews are more defined by ethnicity.. I think. You can not easily "become" a Jew, I think you have to born as one.

Well, perhaps you should read more about Judaism instead of calling others "ignorant". I am well aware that one can "convert", but it is both uncommon and not easy. To be Jewish ethnically is to have blood ties to the biblical figures. Of course, people get converted and become incorporated into the bloodlines throughout the centuries, so the line becomes less clear.
As far as I have always known Jewish people (living in Manhattan), being Jewish is just about a tad more ethnic than religious, though obviously the latter is hugely important.

Though I have gotten him to admit, that since Jews are more born into it than any other religion, and the fact that for many years Jews only married other Jews, they are SORT OF a race. Though nowadays Jews intermarry with other religions a lot more than they used to (his mom was christian)

It's quite similiar to what happened to Jewish people in America. The difference is there are so many more Asians than Jews.
Jews used to be kept out of universities by quota systems. Jews did exceptionally well in schools and on standardized tests. Why? See below:

They both have far higher standards of living than Asian countries with low tax, low benefit economies. Like the Philippines.
The reason they have been hurting lately is it seems that they are losing business to slave populations in countries like Viet Nam and China.
Which, btw, is also hurting the US economy.
I guess high wage, high benefit economies can only thrive in a true free market. Not one where a large proporation of their competitors have access to slave labor.

Both places suck. Japan has very clean streets, but no space.
Higher standards of living (maybe) but with FAR LESS space. The people there also work MUCH harder for their ""standard of living""
Taiwan is just plain dirty.. like most of mainland china.
It has far less people compared to other places, so when you take averages, it's always a little higher.
There Are nice communities in taiwan, but thats for the select wealthy few.
