Are FM Transmitters Any Good ?

I've just ordered a Creative Nomad Zen for my girlfriend and our car only has a cd player at the moment, I am wondering if FM Transmitters are any good as far as sound quality etc ?

As good as FM Radio is for the most part. One thing you need to consider is what channels the FM transmitter will allow you to broadcast on. Some only allow two or four channels, and it could be possible (slim chance) that local FM stations in your area are also on or near those few channels, which can lead to interference. Generally you should be alright. Another suggestion, get a wired tape adapter, if you still have a tape deck

Also the better the range the better the quality.
I have heard of people making their own from electronic stors that sell the kit form.

You also might want to look for one that can be powered by the cigarette lighter, as most of them use batteries, and the one time you forget to turn it off - batteries go dead. There was one IIRC made by SoundFeeder which plugged into the cigarette lighter, and then had another adapter so you could plug something else into it so you wouldn't lose your only adapter. I belive Best Buy carried it.
