Huh? If a generation can buy a house with 20 year amortization but the next one can only do it with 30 year amortization, which do you think is better off?

My generation also has a better life expectancy so our life income will be higher and at least where I live, the possibility to live a even better live than the previous generation, except for the climate changes and pollution, are really starting to catch up. :/

My parents have never been poor, but when they bought their house the had a couple of years where they had to be quite conscious about how they spent their income. I've never been in that situation. (But I'm also the kind of person who do Excel sheets over my spending and income, and have rented one room out in a two room flat even when I could afford it, because I would rather have the extra income )

Your income also depends on where you want to live.
Indeed. If income is your only criteria then it makes the location decision pretty simple. Find the place that has the highest income in your chosen field and move there. Though income vs cost of living would be a better criteria.

I honestly feel bad for the new generation. With crime, cost of living, house prices, mass immigration and everything else going on now days, it just feels hopeless for them and there's definitely more stressors than there was when I was their age. Not as many available jobs now as most entry level jobs are taken by immigrants as well and even if you do find a job our money just doesn't go as far as it used to so it's still tough to get to a point of being able to have a house.

One of my nephews has the right idea though, he's getting into trades and is doing an apprenticeship. He's already making like $30/hour at that job. Trades seems to be the way to go as they pay well. There's not much job security in desk jobs and they don't pay enough anymore. Trades is one of the areas that still seems to pay well as there's a big demand for workers. So there IS opportunity out there, but it's still much harder now than it used to be. Even $30/hour doesn't go as far as it used to go.

This report kind of goes over how the future is fairly bleak:

Internet -> Short Attention Span -> Can't Plan Life

They are only overworked mentally, because their minds haven't been trained well to do complex tasks that require multiple actions, taking over 30 seconds... unless they're trying to find their phone.

ADHD, anxiety disorder, suicidal thoughts, all on the rise because kids don't see the point in making an effort when they still won't be able to afford the good life they see on social media, which is often misleading to begin with. They might as well watch a few more 30 second videos. It's a vicious addictive circle, and sites want to keep them engaged.

That's only half of it.

If you look at society and how politicians are managing it. Do you think the current society is better than what it looked like 30 or 50 years ago?

Imagine being young now and not on the pure evil Trump party train and thus being able to see how fucked your future is with these disgusting people in charge, with their disgusting supporters, who are ready to exploit everyone and every part of Earth they can with zero care for the future? They are fucked.

It's the opposite. The swath of "gimme the grade" and "excessively accomodating to the slightest of emotional distress" types of parents have grown. It has reached the point that Gen Z is being fired at greater rates.

A clear demographic disaster because without labor, the whole ability to collect personal income tax becomes a problem.
