I don't care to argue about PC ports being worse now or not, but why would you choose that disaster AC Unity as a good example?

AC Unity was only horrible on release (although I played it at 1440p ultra quality 60 FPS from the get go). The patches eventually fixed most of the problems on PC.

For the consoles (the PS4 in particular), the low frame rates were never fixed.. Plus you're locked at 900p..

All in all, AC Unity is a much better game on PC than it is on the consoles..

You have a 980 though. Maybe you need (real) 4 GB to avoid the stuttering?

I haven't seen any benchmarks on vram/memory usage so it's hard to tell.

I have two 980s, and I think you're confusing them with the GTX 970..

As for VRAM/RAM usage, both are sky high in Batman Arkham Knight. I've seen RAM usage hit 8.1GB, and my VRAM maxed out as well..

It's not OK to release a broken game and rely on patches to fix it. So in my book, the game is a horrible example of a PC port. That said, we can agree to disagree, I don't like the series anyway.

What I was suggesting is that the people complaining about the stuttering have a GPU with less than 4 GB like the 780 Ti or 970 and/or have 8 GB of ram.

Has anyone actually speculated on the issue causing the problems? Considering all of the talk about stuttering I'm almost wondering if it is some sort of PCI Express bottleneck.
I stated it earlier in the thread, my game runs 100% perfect until my 16GB of RAM gets chowed down and then my page file gets pounded, once it hits the page as hard as it hits it my game just chugs like crazy. It takes about a 1/2 hour for this to happen. If I quit the game every 20 minutes and start it back up I never see the problem. It's memory leaks from Tartarus (sorry hell and hades were not deep enough)

WB should do the right thing here and give current owners of the PC game the Season Pass for free.

Owners of the Season Pass should get a credit of $40 towards any current or future WB published titles.

Well, if it's "just" memory leaks it could be easy to fix. There are plenty of tools out there to identify and squash those bugs. Maybe do something about the 30 fps cap (or lock it permenantly if it's so broken above 30 fps). Just enough to get it back on sale and then work on patching back in the missing features later.

I'm sure they knew it was in a broken state and could have delayed it a week or two to patch things to be in a better place.

You know, I've been racking by brain, yet I can't come up with one other industry that will give a gift that is 66% of the value of the product at issue. Restaurants may give you a free dessert, hotels may take 10% off your bill, garbage company may give you a free pickup. Good luck getting anything free from the government when they f up. But, PC gaming industry? $40 credit on a $60 product. Give me a friggin break. You've lost nothing but some of your time (less than two hours).

People on consoles are happily playing the game. PC gamers looking forward to this got the shaft.

The PC gaming master race types are now mortified and finally realising that no matter how you spend on your PC, all it takes is just one shitty port to ruin your investment.

You really think horrible ports are becoming more common? I don't think so.

In the 360/PS3 days you would have been right, but now that current gen is here, I think port quality has improved a lot as the baseline is now much higher.. The PC version is still usually the best version for multiplatform games.

AC Unity, DAI, Witcher 3 etcetera are all good examples of how the PC version is much better than the console versions..

Yeah, I don't think bad PC ports are getting any more common than they were already. Arkham Knight itself is just the latest from a franchise that's been pretty bad with PC ports, Origins and City were both technical messes on PC upon release.

There have been good PC ports, Witcher 3 and Dragon Age Inquisition being examples (DAI had some consolized UI frustrations, though). I do have to disagree with Unity being a good port example, being a complete trainwreck on release and being patched up to the point of being adequate does not count as good porting in my book. Though to be fair, Unity was something of a disaster across all platforms on release, so it wasn't necessarily a PC-specific issue.

I know restaurants comp meals, theaters comp tickets, Ubisoft has comped free games before, Sony comped free games after their PSN hack a few years ago. Not sure why you think that's absurd when you deliver a product to your paying customers that is literally unusable.

Yep, and that's what I was getting at when I used it as an example. As bad as Unity was on PC, it was much worse on the consoles. At least the PC version was eventually fixed, but the PS4 version is still underperforming to this day despite the resolution being lowered to 900p.

Most of the big AAA releases always perform and look better on PC. Batman Arkham Knight is an exception, which will hopefully be short lived as Rocksteady patch it up.

2 out of your 4 examples are gaming companies. Sony gave away games that were 4 years or older.

I just think it's absurd to expect a gift of that value for inconvenience. plus, almost everyone has the ability to get a full refund - the same thing as comping a meal or ticket.

This is one of the dumbest statements I have read and that includes me hanging out in P&N.

I've been a PC gamer AND console since you were an itch in your daddies pants and I still enjoy the hobby of both. This was a poor port that will be fixed within the next month. Okay so I have to put down this ONE game and work on my 30 others I have backlogged on Steam for a few week, Oh Darn.

Take a hike scrub.

Hoping that was sarcasm. If not, that was a painfully stupid comment.

Neither of those games shipped with lower resolution textures and missing effects. That's a different issue that they will have to work on. Fixing memory leaks and getting the game playable should be first priority but frankly that's not enough. They need to get the game up to snuff in the graphics department.

I just don't understand why he is posting what he is posting.

"Oh well... blah blah blah"

Like people should be happy to play the game on low settings, with missing effects from the console version or something...

4th option. Wait for patch that fixed acknowledge problem and then play, plenty of games to keep busy until then

I passed the Stanford marshmallow experiment.

Edit: sze beat me to it.
