Asus A7N8X Deluxe Bios Flashing

Sup guys, I just got a A7N and got everything installed and seems to be working fine with my system. But when I try to flash the bios is gives me this message "ERROR Can't Find System Bios' Hook" This is at the command prompt when I try to run aflash.exe off of a floppy disk.

My bios version is 1001 G or something like that.

Anyone got any ideas??

why not give ezflash a shot?
shift+F2 i think is what you press....in anycase it tells you upon startup what to press

You mean that Alt+F2 thing? Well I only got into that once and when I did my keyboard didn't work.

Everytime I try to get into that my keyboard stops working so it seems, because I push that combo 50 million times and it still won't let me in.

I guess I'll keep trying it though.

Flashed my A7N8X deluxe using Alt+F2. When it goes to the screen, make sure numlock key is on. Type name of bios, ex. an8b1002 or 1002.
Bios should flash in about 1 minute or so. Reboot system and bios version should appear on the screen.

Interfire I have the same problem too!.. did you get it working? My keyboard doesn't seem to work when I am trying to access the Raid setup as well.. what about you???

Here is what is new in the 1002 BIOS acording to ASUS:

1. Update Serial ATA option ROM to 4.1.50.
2. Fix that system fails to flash BIOS by pressing Alt+F2 buttons when USB mouse is enabled.
3. Fix that USB port 3,4 can not resume from S3/S4.
4. Improve motherboard stability when using Infineon DDR333.

Yeah I found an info on that as soon as I posted here.. so I tried it.. it still didn't work after I remove the usb mouse. I also realize that the Raid only works with the serial harddrives technology.. maybe that explains why I can't get into the setting for that.

Still no luck, I've got in there a couple of times but after that my keyboard stops working.

AnimeKnight, have you got yours to work? I looked on their site for some info but no avail.

I'll try disabling the USB mouse and see if that works.

I posted this up on TTZ and those guys just said don't worry about updating your BIOS... lol!

Easiest way to flash your BIOS.

Disable the onboard RAID controller via jumper if you are not using it. Its been known to cause problems if no drives are attached to it.

Also disable any devices via BIOS that you are not using, like serial/parallel/game/midi devices etc.

Enable USB KB/Mouse support in the BIOS. I'm using both a USB wireless KB and mouse without any problems whether it is navigating BIOS, WinXP installs, anything.

I got mine to work... but not thru their alt + f2... I created a boot up disk contains only the command.com file and I put their award flash program + the .bin file in the boot up disk.

boot it up and ran their award flash program and now I am running on the newest bio

No that didn't work either. That error message still pops up.

I'll see if I can disable onboard raid and try that a little later
