Asus A7n8x-DX Sound Crackling

Ok, this has been a problem that is really bothering me. I'm sure that the NForce2's onboard sound is not a POS, so im sure its a setting or something. Basically the sound is crackling when I use AIM and when I play Day Of Defeat. Mp3's play good and as far as i can tell CD's play good. It only seems to be associated with Wav sounds. It is definately not the speakers either...

Which version of the nVida All-In-One driver are you using?

The correct driver is v1.16 from ASUS's website, as the nVidia 2.0
driver does not support alll the features of the motherboard.

I updated the drivers from Asus before I posted this and no dice...

hi,
this also happens on my abit nf7-s nforce2 board. under w2k and xp.
using 2.03 noforce drivers. i've tried everything i can think of (except just buying another fortissimo3 cound card) and it's still screwing up. consider this a bump if anyone has fixed this.

I have heard that there is a revision 2.0 pcb version of the a7n8xdx out. All the Asus site refers to about this is that it now supports a 400 FSB. A fleabay posting I saw for a ver 2.0 reffered to this as a revision to correct a sound crackle issue and a bios cheat/flash update which is stock on the ver 2.0.. i am not sure how reliable that ifo may be though, or if a bios flash would correct a sound problem.. I am still holding out to purchase an A7N8X Dx waiting for the prices to get cheaper...besides all have to go on the board is an XP2200 "A" core, which i dont think can be pushed too hard anyways.

I have this exact same problem the thing is I am using a Turtle Beach Santa Cruz my sound goes kinda crazy when i play HL sometimes super echos crackling and static. The sound card works fine in other machines and quite frankly im really disappointed with my A7N8X purchase.

I also have the sound crackling problem. I can hear hear static, faint beeping and crackling through my headphones as soon as my computer posts, even if I'm not using the audio. The noise doesn't go away. I have tried various drivers including the Realtek driver, my sound has its own IRQ, I have disabled APIC, muted everything in the nforce control panel except audio out, and lowered volume output levels. None of this has fixed the problem.
From what I have been researching at AMDMB and NforcersHQ forums, there are people experiencing this problem with all nforce2 manufacturers and revisions. It happens with analog and digital out. Everything I have tried has fixed the problem for some people. And there are many others who, like me, have had no positive results.
I am considering an RMA to Asus, but its a hassle because I'd have to buy another board for while I wait.

Sounds like a driver issue. I have seen this before.
