Asus A7N8X - Lock ups

I have just built a system containing the A7N8X. I used components from an existing system, Sparkle 400ps, Geforce4 Ti4200 64mb(not oc'ed), existing drives, etc... Problem is, the system will run fine for hours, minutes, the time varies. With no warning, the screen turns a real fuzzy blue, really distorted, but the sound keeps playing for a few seconds before a complete lock up occurs. I've tried using both the asus 1.16 drivers and the 1.20's on nvidias site. I'm using the onboard sound, the nvidia nic, with all other ports disabled in the bios. I have the SATA disabled via jumper also. I'm using 512 mbs of corsair 3200 ddr ram. The lock has only occured twice in about 4 days of usage, but I'm wondering if anyone else has had anything similar occur. I've tried both optimal and gressive settings, synhcing the memory with the fsb and manually setting it to 200 166 133. At first I was getting lock ups in BF1942 that would be just out of the blue hard locks, forcing a reboot. After a re install I can now play BF1942, but I've gotten the blue fuzzy lock up screen once while playing and once while surfing the web with only ICQ running in the back ground. I have an Athlon XP 2200+, that runs around 40C.

Try checking to see what temperature your cpu is running at from the bios. I just built a system using this board a few weeks ago and had a very similar problem. Turns out my heatsink fan was installed incorrectly and the CPU was overheating big time. The C.O.P function on the board constantly shut my system down after a few minutes.

Oops. Didn't see that part about your CPU running at 40 degrees.

Scratch that theory then!

but the funny part is the bios reports the cpu running at 80 C, but Asus probe shows it at or around 40 c. I'm thinking this board will need RMA'd. If its the cops kicking in, I wouldn't think I'd see the fuzzy blue screens, only a reboot or shutdown of the pc.
