ASUS A7V133 & Windows 2000

Howdy,
Just bought an A7V133 and a Tbird 1.133Ghz/266.

Apparently there are issues with Win2K stability, according to an article posted at

www.amdzone.com

Which is a reference to the article at:

I need to install W2K Professional on this new system, to do work from home. Any recommendations or ideas or tales on your own experience with W98SE and W2KPro on the A7V133 would be welcome. Thanks.

I just put together a 1.2T-Bird with the Asus Mobo in Win2000. Everything is running smooth except the detection of network Cards at the Beginning of bootup. Takes much longer than my OLD BX board. Games and Applicaitons are all running fine from what i can tell. Just remember to read the manual about IRQ shared slots b4 sticking in all your cards caused half day to figure everything out. And download the latest VIA 4in1 Driver(4.28) and you'll be all set.

He's OCing.... maybe he went too damned high and he should just go back a tad IMO. Im running Win2k with 150FSB and everything is 100% stable.

Since you're using it for work at home, I presume you will not overclock it. Having said that, this board is extremely stable in Win2K and Win9X. I can attest to that stability as I am using both OS in dual boot configuration. Never had a single BSOD. The comment made at overclockers.com is about pushing the FSB to the limits. He's lingering around 150+ FSB, so naturally he's set out to sqeeze every bit of performance rather than attaining "workable" stability.

However, like the previous poster said, it takes a while to recognize the NIC. I believe you have to assign an IP address to the card/protocol so it won't have to "search" for an address. HOw do you do this? I am curious myself Anyone familiar with this issue? It happened to me with A7V and KT7A too, so I don't think it is a unique problem to A7V133. BTW, I have an external DSL modem w/PPPoE connection. I guess I have more questions than answers

Like the others, I can vouch for the stability of this board in Win2k Professional. I've been gaming (UT Tac Ops) all weekend without a single hault or freeze or crash. And you know Win2k and games don't go that well together. So I'd say I put more than an average user's stress on the Asus A7V133 and needless to say it passed with flying colors.

I'm using this board with Win2K and stability is %100 Rock Solid. Excellent board.
