Asus are killing me.

I just put together a new system and emptied my bank accounts,everything eventually worked out except fot the sata raid drives.I have been stuck for 3 days now and its affecting my mental stability..I put in my old 10 gig ata wd drive for the operating system so I dont have 2 drives buzzing when I,m on the net for 8 hours...The raid drives were for video and gaming.I have set up everything in bois and got into fast trak to build the stripe aray,as I,m not booting of these drives I shouldent need to f6.I tried to put the driver for sata of my cd ,but it reports back that I have the wrong chipset!The support cd came with the mobo so how can that be?The board is an asus p4c800-e..I later noticed the cd says on its front,for p4c800/p4p800 series.Well I read on this site they made some modifications from the p4p800 to the -e version.Is it possible that cd dosent support a new chipset in the e series..Because I cant load the sata drivers I am well and truely stuck.Windows xp hasent recognized new hardware and I need help.Thanks.

have you gone to the asus website and dl'd the drivers for your board? could simply be corrupted drivers on the cd.

Maybe it has already been installed. Have you went into Start-Setting-Control Panel-Administrative Management or something like that- Storage and enable it in there. That is what I usually have to do to see my 2x 160gb Raid 0 Sata drives storage space when reinstalling XP fresh from scratch again. But once you set it, it should stay. In the storage space you will either have to enable it or import foreign disk for the OS to see your other Raid.

I am running 2 36gb 15k Seagate Raid 0 for my OS and Running 2x 160gb SATA Seagate Raid 0 for all my Data and stuff.

Thanks for your replys.If you mean control panel and then hardware I have a promise controller under raid and scusi,but there is no sign of the harddrive array ,only my old ata wd drive that has the operating system xp on it.I think the problem is that asus support cd says for the p4c800/p4p800 series.But my board is the p4c800-e which has a diffrent southbridge chipset ,it changed from ich5 to ich5r ,so when I try to load the intel sata raid drivers it tells me I have the wrong chipset for this software...Has anyone out there got the p4c800-e board?Does your support cd say for p4c800?Has anyone managed to load sata raid drives onthe p4c800-e?How did you manage to load the intel drivers for sata?I am not using the raid to boot so I thought it would be easier to get them going.I have written to asus support and they say the intell drivers are there to accelerate the raid array and the wrong chipset message is because the drivers arent configered as raid so the drivers wont load.WRONG ASUS.Everything in Bios is set right ,after 4 days a guy has gone through every little setting ten times,they are pluged in right and recognized by fasttrak,but that is where it ends.Has anyone got this configuration going and is there any raid instructions on the net dealing with built in sata controllers and chipset?Thanks for any help,I have no money left for shop help so I cant give up.

Ok I wasn't at home when I wrote that reply and just kinda tried to remember it from the top of my head. But I am home now and what I mean is if you go to

Start
Control Panel
Performance and Maintenance
Administrative Tools
Computer Management
and then
Disk Management.

In there you will see any foreign disk that Win XP did not recognize and you will have to import them so that XP will see your raid.
Also you will probably right away see it with a quesion mark on it meaning that its there but XP needs to know about it.
It has nothing to do with your motherboard or anything else but within XP itself that you just have to enable it.

IVALIDUSER you cracked it.Thanks ,you saved me a heap of work.It was there all the time like you said but inactive.I had never used xp before and was used to new hardware messages in 98.All I had to do was right click and format the drive.I now have a lovley 153 gig array and am loading generals onto it.You really made my day and I wish you lots of luck.
