ASUS CUSL2 Memory Problems?

Is anyone aware of any memory incompatabilities with the ASUS CUSL2 and certain brands of PC-133 memory? I have some LGS RAM and had several problems. (Blue screens, missing drives etc.) If you are running this board with no problems, what RAM are you using? I have the "A" version of the BIOS (it shipped like this) and have made no changes in the BIOS's "memory department".

Are the RAM settings set to default? That is, if your CAS latency for the RAM is set to 2, try setting it to 3.

Also, what FSB/RAM/PCI ratio are you using?

It may be your memory or the memory clock generator chip or the eide controller chip, especially if you are oc'ing in the 140 - 155 fsb region with a cas 3 Pc - 133 memory and a udma 66 / 100 hard disk. Have a look here regarding this ...

Other reviews, for example www.firingsquad.com have managed 150 fsb without problems, so it may be down to the quality of the intel i815 chips, although its difficult to proove this claim. In a way Asus sort of seems to have 'verified' this by setting the default motherboard vio to 3.4V instead of the usual 3.3V. This is enhansing the stability of the motherboard. However, if you're trying high fsb's you could always increase the vio to 3.6V. Although then you would be applying a little extra strain on your components. Pitty Asus hasn't included a 3.5 V vio setting so that the jump could be 0.1 rather than 0.2 V.

You aren't overclocking so there shouldn't be a problem. Have you tried different dimm slots ? Could you borrow one from a friend for a couple of days to see what happens ?!

Check out the URL below. There apparently are problems with some types of PC 133 RAM and the 815 chipset itself. The problem is not specific to the CUSL2 cause there are similar problems with the Abit SE6. Sharky references a page on the intel website that lists types of ram tested and found compatible with the 815. Didn't see your ram on the list. Sorry I can't linkify the site.
