I've been trawling all the forums lately trying to find a resolution for this.
I just received 2 8800 gt-1gb cards from asus (sssh, I know, I overspent on)
And..they do not work at stock frequency.
I can get a single card to stay stable for 12+ hours *if* I drop the memory clock by 100-200mhz.
If I try that in sli. I've gotten 4 hours max ..once.. And cannot pass a single run of 3dmark06.
Temp doesn't seem to be an issue. For troubleshooting purposes I've rigged up some massive airflow onto the inside of the case. I've tried both asus and nvidia drivers (using appropriate driver cleaners to ready the way for the new ones).
I'm at a loss. Asus tech support still hasn't responded and I'm past the refund date already. So...if there is a way to fix it. Grand. If anyone knows if this is a limited batch issue from Asus (I've heard of other makers having the issue with qoumondo video ram?) then RMA is an option.
Again, please help
