Asus M2A-VM (Socket AM2)

I have this motherboard currently with a AMD Athlon X2 4800+ processor.

Can the processor be upgraded to say a 3ghz like AMD athlong X2 6000+

or say a AMD Phenom X4 ?

or is their a limit on what can be upgraded?

Go to Asus's website (open the CPU Support tab) and you can find out what CPUs are supported on that motherboard. A BIOS update may be required, but that information is also listed.

And, yes, there is a limit on what CPUs can be used.
