Asus Mars II (1500$) vs 6990 (~699$)

800$ more gets you 2 fps.

800$ more gets you 4 fps.

800$ more gets you a slower performance result.

800$ more gets you 16 fps.

800$ more gets you 0.5 fps.

6990's 452 watts vs Asus Mars II's 590 watts.

Utterly crap card, for that price point 1.5gb ea. GPU is criminal considering the niche market for such expensive cards often means multi-monitor resolution gaming.

Dunno what ASUS were thinking.

For all of you that think $700, $1000 and $1500 are too much for a video card, I am 10000000000% sure that if you had $1500 to spare you would get one

This is a 1000 pieces production card and it cost $1500, well nobody said it has the best price/performance ratio, so what ?? its the best(Performance/looks) card available today .

If I kept spending my money on worthless shit, I wouldn't have 1,500 dollars to spare.

Forget $1500. Even $300 for a card is too much for my blood when I can do GTX460 SLI for $240.

*IF*

I had 1500$ to burn on GPUs....

I would do 3 x 6950's and have a faster setup, than buying 1 of these. Also I would only use like 700$ to do tri-crossfire with 6950's.

There is NO situation where I can think of, that 1 of these cards makes any sense. Its a silly product, made for people with more money than sense.

Even if I wanted to spend $1500 on graphics, I'd go with Tri SLI 580's over this card.

That would be cheaper, and run faster.

I just like the 2gb mem pr card, with the AMD ones, esp if your gonna blow that much money on GPUs, you ll want to run high resolutions.

While I understand why the price is what it is, and I'm not discounting the cost of that exclusivity, If I had a "spare $1500.00" lying around I wouldn't spend it on this card. What are you basing this assuredness that all of them/us/anyone would get one?

$1500. At that price I expected 6GB of GDDR5. Nope.

Seriously. If they had put 3gb per core on that beast more people would consider it for high end surround setups. But 1.5gb is too little for the resolutions you'd want that kind of GPU power for.

Also if a full cover clock existed for it, it would be amazing to see what kind of clock speeds you could get with the power system on that card

Don't be so sure. Even if i have 1500 USD spare that must be spent, I will rather go with 3x580 or 3x6970. It just isn't worth it.

If i had that much $$ to throw around i'd buy 3x 30' screens.. then worry bout the GPUs later when 28nm is out.

There's a PC market for the "so rich cost doesn't matter" people too. As long as it is the absolute fastest I'm sure a limited run of 1000 will sell just fine. Most uber rich will probably get 2 in some $10,000 custom built PC.
