You two are in a class way up there...I'm just a noob at OC'ing, however I can try...I try to follow what's up, but sometimes I get "lost in the sauce" trying to follow along...lol. It seems that becoming a hardware junkie doesn't take much(you catch the fever quite easy). I'll get there wit the OC'ing, eventually. Put a couple of smoked mobos under my belt and some hard lessons learned....but $289? That's a real school of hard knocks...

Yep - same here.

I also sent an email to Asus in reference to the BIOS showing set vcore and not actual. Included that there needs to be an update the fix the memory timing settings and add the vdimm and vagp to the hardware monitor.

Anyway, i have put the P4-m back in the P4G8X and even with the latest beta bios its still stuck at 200fsb

Just saw some benches for springdale...it looks real fast, so we may be all upgrading real soon

ok. i have installed the new mobo and benchmarked it with 3dmark03.
My system:
p4 3.06
2x 512 sticks Corsair 3200 XMS
ATI 9700 Pro

ASUS P4G8X/D result - 4553
ASUS P4PE/ATA/R/L/G result - 4857

Clearly P4PE performs better for gaming.
Also I am having problems with Broadcom chip. It worlks fine for a while and then hangs, so I have decided to RMA it and put back my P4PE.

The Broadcom Lan does have some compatability issues with certain modems. The Toshiba cable modem I have from TimeWarner does hang with downloads over 3-5Mb. I am going to change out the modem in the next few days with TimeWarner for a newer model. They say this will fix it. However, it may be a driver issue. Will know soon.

I have mine set to 1.65v BIOS. Reads 1.69-1.71v CPU_Z.

1. You are correct, these are the bench results from both motherboards with default settings. Notice both are default settings.
2. On p4pe i have the same gigabit chip and it never had this problem. My modem is Motorola from optimumonline.

Great thread and stuffed full of needed info for this soon to be owner of a P4G8X-D, (saw it at newegg in stock).
I had ordered a GA-8INXP in Jan from ncix.com and still was waiting for the order to be filled.
After reading the fun you're having with the Asus, I canceled the Gigabyte and ordered a ATA133 controller card with the P4G8X-D, (one of the reasons I wanted the 8INXP).

I ordered a P4 3.06 and TWINX512-3200LLPT at the same time the 8INXP showed as in stock and they were just losing valve and gathering dust waiting for the 8INXP.

bigtoe33 ~ im running the test exactly as shown in the screenshot (same settings you reccommend) i only run 1 time and from a clean boot.
