ASUS P5W DH Deluxe Question

I have decided to do my 1st computer build with my son, I thought it would be a great project for us, I hope it is not too hard...lol.

We have bought the Asus P5W DH Deluxe as our Motherboard along with an e6000 CPU..

My 1st question is will the following Heatsink and fan work on this motherboard?

install is pretty gay though, the metal thing in the middle that goes through, have it go straight through the "tunnel of bars"

I have that exact same heatsink, mounted to the exact same motherboard, with the exact same processor. I can tell you that they play very nicely with each other.

good luck on that project - sounds like it will be fun. Did something with my daughter recently using the same board. A word of advice though, it was abit of a nightmare to get this system up and running and it was due to the powersupply. I was using a new (as in 3 month old) Antec HE 550 for powering this system which I thought would be sufficient for its needs, but after beating my head against a wall I decided to try a Thermaltake 750 and every issue I was experiencing before dissapeared. Yeah, some of the Antec units have had issues with these Conroe mobos. I dont even reccomend Antec units anymore.

they actually have a little blurb about it on the antec website - a whole line devoted to it ;o)

from the reviews of the Thermaltake Toughpower series I felt it was a good choice.

I actually did speak to Antec customer service and submitted a RMA for the unit. Apparently they view the issue as one caused by the MB manufacturer - there was a change they had to make to their design to get it to work.

Ahh crap! Great I have a NEO 550!! it was the only thing I figured was dang on. Guess I should pull out the 600 Seasonic out of my other system and try that. GREAT. I always thought the Antec line was great

EDIT I mean I never thought it could have been the PS to give me some issues. And I paid a mint for it too. So will the Seasonic be a better choice?
