Is there a way to confirm within Windows that AHCI is set up? I ended up redoing my WHS v1 set up along with enabling AHCI in my BIOS but I'm not sure if it's actually enabled in Windows.
I've never found anything intrinsically "Windows" that does that, but you could scan through the Windows "Accessories"->"System Tools"->"System Information" screens. Hadn't really had an inclination to look, and at the moment, can only check a "VISTA" machine -- which has a dedicated 3Ware for RAID and no other hard disks connected.
If it's not there, then more likely some utility like "Everest" would show it -- I think.
But if it's been set in the BIOS disk configuration screens, and you loaded the correct driver at Windows installation "F6," then . . . . that's it . . .
WHS also would provide the "Accessories . . . System Information" screens. Perhaps you and I had touched base on this issue some weeks ago. I remember saying that I'd thoughtlessly set up WHS in "IDE" mode and wished that I'd chosen AHCI. If you did get it done, that's good. And if you set the BIOS and loaded the correct drivers with WHS working properly, why is it important? Are you having a problem with it?
Don't take it the wrong way, but have you ever left the system console and gone to the Windows desktop in WHS? If you don't have the WHS configured with a graphics card, I think the only way to do that from the client-side workstation is to download a plug-in for WHS called "Advanced Administrative Console." There's a way to get it to "minimize" itself after choosing "show Windows desktop."
Let me come back to see if there's info in my own WHS to even suggest that AHCI would reveal itself in "System Information."
