Epic,

That really sucks. I was reading some of the reviews on the Egg and there was at least two or three people that had bent pins. Maybe someone dropped a box of these on the floor at their warehouse. On my first boot I got the beeps but I think that was because my VGA cable was loose. Second time everything was golden.

As I mentioned while everything is good and working but I may try the Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H. The only thing is I never tried Via Audio and Atheros chipset for the network. Obviously for anyone going to attempt to install a hackingtosh, it may not work. The board has 8 SATA ports so I can get rid of my add-on card It also has 9 screws to hold down the board which is what my old one had. There were BSOD issues but they have been resolved with the latest BIOS updates but it seems that was an issue with all Z77 chipset motherboards.

I'm thinking about disabling this Realtek crap and putting one of these in :

Until I find a board that's up to the quality standards of the P67 Pro, I'm a sad panda. It's my own fault though. Simply opening the box and looking at this mobo you can see it's cheaply made.

It's good that it's working for you.

I have several issues with it :

(1)- Lower overclocking with the same CPUs (2500k and 3770k)
(2)- No heatsinks on VRMs (at this price point, why?)
(3)- Realtek LAN is slowwwwww (compared to Intel Gbit, sustained transfer speeds and latency over network are much worse)
(4)- Onboard audio a step back from P67 Pro
(5)- Stability issues with 4x4GB Vengeance 1866 (random BSODs, yet the ram is perfectly stable on the P67 Pro).
(6)- Price. Not a good value compared to other Z77 boards with more features.

Aha, looking at your board, the "ASUSTeK P8Z77 V-LK" .. it's a huge step up from the "LX" board that I have. VRM heatsinks, 6-Jack analog audio + SPDIF, and just an overall increase in quality. Still has the crap Realtek LAN, but that's easily fixed (I just bought a PCI-Express Intel Gigabit card to disable that trash).

So you have a good one, I think I might end up dumping this LX mobo pretty quickly, but I wouldn't wish this on anyone, so I may actually just snap it in half and throw it in the garbage.

Looks like this is what I want : http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131820

Doesn't skimp on quality, and has real LAN chip.

Isn't the LX the same as the LK with just a few more extras and a additional heatsink?

Thats why I upgraded to P8Z77-V to have a Intel LAN onboard. Found the Realtec 892 lacking so I added a Sonar DG5.1 for $20.

It's the reverse I think.

P8Z77-V LX = no VRM heatsinks, 3-jack crap audio, Realtek lan.

In my case, after having run a P67 Pro, this LX board with fewer heatsinks and crappier audio/lan is really disappointing. I could live with the lower features, but the lower overclock and instability with 16GB of 1866 ram just make it so crappy that I'd give it 0 stars if I could. NOT recommended. This is including updating to the newest BIOS and trying a huge variety of ram settings.

I understand completely. This is what I get for buying on impulse. I do have a PCIe Intel Gbit card now, but still crap audio.

I just bought this mobo and installed it a few hours ago and i have to say.... This is crap. I went and replaced my old gigabyte p45 and e8400 because i think the mobo was dead. Computer stopped booting all together after weeks of lined crashes andstart up failures.

Well now everything is hooked up with a 3770k and corsair 1600 but nothing is happening. It gives a jolt of power surging though and it just shut everything down cept the fans. Gpu got extremely hot after 2 mins of this on idle. Took everything apart and tried again after making sure the pins were not bent. Still no start up, yet power is being put though it. Now i am thinking maybe my psu is bad? But i called Asus support and got rejected because their systems are down and they can't help.

Anyone have an idea?

Did you get this from NewEgg? They may have either a bad batch or someone dropped a set of these as I have been seeing a ton of issues being reported from the comments. I bought mine from Microcenter and haven't had any issues with it. With that said, as soon as I can get everything taken apart tomorrow, I'm bringing it back for a Gigabyte GA-Z77X-D3H.

I just have one thing to verify. I have a KVM with a GA-EP35-DS3L MB hooked up as well as this Asus MB. If I go into sleep mode on the Gigabyte and switch to the Asus, the system comes back on. Going from the Asus in sleep mode to the Gigabyte I don't have this issue. My old motherboard was also a Gigabyte N650SLI-DS3 and going from that in sleep mode to the GA-EP35-DS3L I never had this issue. I am almost positive that this has to do with the PSU but not 100% certain. This would bug me more than a blinking light so I need to be certain before exchanging the boards.

Ya i got this last week from them. I read some of the comments but the only thing bad i could see was bent pins, which made me pick this over the asrock z77. I actually wish i could exchange this damn thing now. Should of done more research and saw that microcenter had their $50 off mobo sale and got the one i wanted.

Anyone ele have an idea?

I just think they had a bad batch of these and you are probably better off returning it (even if you take a hit on it).

It may not have even been NewEgg dropping this, rather somewhere in transit from the boat to them.

Yep, that's what I wanted to say but messed it up. It was a long day

Just an update, picked up a P8Z68 Deluxe Gen3 for cheap (new old stock for Open Box price at MC, $84.99!), and holy crap what an improvement across the board. I already tried and hated a couple IB K-series chips, so I'm sticking with my 2500K (minor voltage bump and low temps for 4.9Ghz), so I'm not really worried about some of the minor feature bumps on the Z68 to Z77. Literally everything else about this board is far far better. I would have gone with the newer Z77 Pro board, but it was more than twice the price.

From the Z77 to this board, my WEI scores (crappy bench I know) went from 7.4/7.5/7.9/7.9/7.8 to 7.7/7.9/7.9/7.9/7.9, all with identical components.
