I bought an ASUS X99 last August. Thing operated at 4.1GHz like a charm for 9 months. A few weeks ago, when I started doing a lot of 3d rendering, the system would sporadically crash. About two weeks ago it crashed overnight and never came back on, the PSU just made a clicking noise.
So I figure, bad PSU, RMA it, bought a new one in the meantime and same problem. So I RMA'd the board. Today I finally got all the parts back (PSU, Board) and after spending three hours carefully rebuilding the system it powered on for about 5 seconds and shut off.
Now if I disconnect power and hold the power button down, reset, it will boot for about 1 second, display a 00 code and then power down. I've read reviews of this board frying components and now I'm concerned it may have killed my CPU/RAM.
Any ideas on anything else I can try? I've reseated everything, even tried booting without the CPU and still just a code 00. It's been brutal to be without a system for two weeks and now to have it fail all over again...it's a bitter pill to swallow.
