You can use a tripod, set it up for a reasonably long exposure and just wait. If you've got time lapse function, you can set it to trigger the shutter automatically so you can standby and let the camera do its thing. The ones I took were about 15 seconds long. Of course, if the wind is really blowing and you're outside, dial your shutter speed in.my first time trying to take pics of lightning..I have no clue on what the best settings for lightning shots were.. this hand held at 1/200 F2.8 ISO 4000.
