3G is not a huge difference from EDGE when it comes to page rendering on a smartphone. The only noticeable speed difference is when you're tethered to a laptop, then you'll notice a big difference in file download speeds. (this is why when you see ATT commercials they always show a file's download progress compared to the competition, but they never compare two browser windows rendering a page)

I love my T-Mobs! It was above the industry average for Customer Service. I saw that graph on theconsumerist.com....

You must have had an unusual bad experience. Just yesterday I needed to RMA my SO's phone since it was having trouble charging. I was on and off the phone in 15 min and a replacement is on it's way. I called at 4:30PM EST and I had no wait time after I got through the automated portion of their system.

I am with ATT, way back when it was ATT Wireless then Cingular and now ATT. It is ok with me. I never have any big problems with them for me to switch.

I never have any long delay or problems that ATT CS couldnt fix in my last 7+ years with ATT.

I may go with SERO from Sprint anytime because I am in a month to month with ATT (no contract). Just not sure Sprint is good around here. Most of the people that I know of are either with ATT or Verizon.

I had ATT back in 03, they weren't bad, but they weren't great either. I just switched to TMO from Verizon. Best decision ever for me. (mainly because of price, VZ's customer service & coverage were great)

I have a coworker who has Tmobile and he uses my phone for phone calls more than he uses his own, cause he never gets enough coverage to make a call, and I work all over So Cal.

BTW I am with ATT and I have yet to find a place I couldn't make a call where someone else could.

Opinions on cell companies are exactly that, based on opinions. Of course people who call in with a big bill because they went over their minutes and didn't get all of the money immediately credited back because they "deserve it" are going to think that company is shit, and trust me, I hear it often enough. On an average day I get about 75 calls, 90% of which are resolved on that call, under 10 minutes, to the customer's complete satisfaction. A few may require extra time, and those customers always get a call-back and extra consideration for their troubles, and one or two always get upset because they didn't get what they wanted, compared to what they really deserved.

Always ask around locally for best coverage, and then go with that company.

I've been with T-mobile since 2000 (when they were Voicestream).

They don't have the best coverage in NYC, but their customer service is top-notch.

I've never had a problem with their CSR's. They're available 24/7 and I never have to be on hold very long.

bingo. i currently use t-mobile's EDGE network for free (the workaround still works for me), and with google mobilizer, all of my pages load as fast as i can read them.

but hey, pay $40/month for 3G. somebody needs to help SBC recoup the loses from overpaying for ATT.

For instance, it is not that good at the Natick Mall, but it is fine accross the street. That is my only issue. They have also seemed to have taken care of the dead zones in Andover, Ma.

ever since they were.... Omnipoint? Voicestream?
