You might have read the thread where I was mad at every computer manufacturer because of the hard time I had with a new graphics card. Because of that, I tried windows xp pro and I liked it. I went and I bought xp pro and installed it at all the desktops at home (3), including my workstation. Now, I'm happy because everything is connected easily and my little LAN is just more, plus xp pro is able to support HT technology that boosted my workstation performance greatly since my CAD tools I run at home are actually multithread enabled and XP pro was great at handling it.

enough talking about my workstation, my gaming PC, which I was trying to run my new card has XP pro installed. I still couldn't run my favorite game CMRally2.0 on it and the computer still locked up. I gave up for the fist time in a long time trying to fix a problem with gaming PC. My friend's friend's brother who works as a technical support consultant for a very famous company came to my place and spent sometime crashing my computer one time after the other. He was examining the PC as a patient. Then, he told me it is from the interface between the memory of the computer and the card processing path which he was not familiar with. He turned off the AGP feature (not 4x not 2x...not x at all) basically turned off what AGP is all about....the game had a great hit in performance but it worked in higher resolution. More research on the topic, it turns out the video card designers had a mistake with respect to intel white sheets, (a minor mistake that is forgivable with many video games, except for the ones that runs on the original AGP schemes. The AGP has been altered and with this alteration the timing of the bus changed and here was my problem).

Anyway, my gaming PC runs most of my games perfectly and it is ROCK stable when I try to do anything. My gaming PC never crashed with my new card unless I try to play CMRally2.0

My wife felt sorry for me that I wasn't able to play my racing game using my new graphics card that I did much research on before I bought. Two days ago, I went and picked XBOX and bought 4 games, including CMRally3.0) with it and came back home. My wife after an hour came back home and guess what, she brought PS2 with her with CMRally3.0. We kept laughing for like 30 minutes. She brought a second handset and we both rallied together. I must say that we had good time gathered around the 28" T.V. playing the game. We tried the same game on the XBOX and we both thought it looked better on the XBOX. Anyway, as far as CMRally 3.0 goes, I didn't like it as much. The car driving model isn't as real as in 2.0. It does look better, the car that is. We played the other XBOX game, and we really had much fun. If strategy games are available on the XBOX then I would probably say good bye for my gaming PC after all.

Anyway, I just wanted to share this with you.

Dude, get a Dell!

Seriously though, I don't know if CMRally 2.0 is a seriously flawed PC game or what, but a well-built PC should not have problems running pretty much any new game. Having to disable AGP for any game means something in your setup is wrong, that's for sure!

Just to make sure, you kept the xbox right? I've always had doubts playing "arcade" like games on the PC as I was always a console fan when it comes to this.... But I'm glad it worked out for you.

I'm sorry to hear about all the problems you've had getting cmrally to run on your pc. That is the one nice thing about consoles though, you won't have to worry about the hardware having incompatibilities with your games I've really always been a fan of consoles, and I still do most of my gaming on them. I do play on my pc, mostly so I can play online without paying $50 a month or whatever they're charging for those online subscriptions on the consoles. Consoles really are good as far as prices, hell you can get one of the current ones for less than a high end video card. And they're able to do a comparable job with the graphics, though you can't play at high res like a pc. I hope you enjoy your new console
