I am noticing, at this particular moment the complete and utter lack of creativity in most of the music on the radio. I get a little peeved when a rock band repeats the same phrase over and over, and every good band overdoes the repitition. I can admit that.
However...
Listening to the radio in spanish (I am semi-fluent. I work with spanish speakers every day, and we talk constantly), I am noticing that there are an abundance of songs where the same phrase is repeated (literally...) over 30 times in a row. The highest I've counted was 34 repititions (sp?) of 5 words, with no other words inbetween.
When did a 10 second track on repeat become music? I realize that it's technically music, but when did it become a creative work? Did I miss some sort of memo? And is it really neccesary to remix a song, and have the single song reiterated constantly? I'm probably going to turn off the radio if I hear another song from 1950-1960 redone, with 0 change to music, INCLUDING the rhythm and pitch of the sung words.
Just when I thought that a select few hip hop 'artists', and a myriad of pop singers/bands were devoid of all musical creativity and value...here comes spanish radio to make pop music look so good.
I guess learning how to play an instrument, and listening to (and playing) a lot of classical music really ruined me.
Cliffs:
Spanish radio is excessively lacking in creativity in my opinion, even worse than american pop has been in recent years. Am I overreacting or has it become totally rediculous?
