ATA channel ?

I looked under the device manager cause I was having problems burning stuff and i looked under the IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers menu and the primary and secondary things were gone and all that was left is my motherboard controller. How can I get the primary and secondary controllers back?

Try doing add new hardware in control panel. Maybe that will find them. If that doesn't work, you can try dong a system restore to a point where you knew the drives were being recognized.

If the "Add Hardware" process doesn't do it, just remove the controller from dev mgr. When you reboot, it should redetect the mobo contoller as well as the primary and secondary channels. When the controller is redetected, it will also install the primary channel and then ask to reboot. It will save time to say NO to the reboot prompt as it should then also install the secondary channel. If you rebooted after the primary channel was installed, you might then have to do another reboot after the secondary channel is installed.
