Many of these Venices can not surpass 2.5 GHz (on any voltage). Especially the new YBBLE series is quite disappointing. Mine can barely do 2.5 GHz.

I've done a few google searches on YBBLE over the past week, and I've seen a number of OC'ers reporting 2600 to 2700 with YBBLEs on air. Not earth-shattering, but a near 50% OC.

Also, you must remember that most MBs can't get the most out of a given CPU. I wonder what the average OC would be if everyone were using a DFI NF4 MB.

Its probably due to demand, all the high speed cores are being cosumed at the high end, leaving only the cores that do 2.5-2.7. At least the yields are high enough that we can 2.5-2.7, it could be a lot worse. Was the A64 even projected to make 3 ghz? I thought that was why they were focusing on dual cores.

I am happy with a 2.7 ghz chip for 120.

Re-tested with another set of Kingston Value RAM. Looks like I'm RAM-limited to 284MHz FSB at DDR333 (2.56MHz). Found a bunch of errors with another pair of RAM. 290MHz FSB @ DDR333 is possible with 1.6Vcore if I have premium RAMs.

Running at DDR200 with 296MHz FSB will yield similar speed performance as DDR333 @ 284MHz FSB. For everday use, the FSB is set at 280MHz with Cool n Quiet ON.

I keep my Vcore @ 1.55V and Vdimm @ 2.7V. Timing is 2.5-3-3-8-1T. Max Prime95 CPU temp is 53C at 28C room temp. There are two 120 mm medium speed Panaflo fans (including two Zalman Fanmate 2s), one 120 mm Zalman CPU cooler fan, and 80mm n 92 mm Enermax PSU case fans inside the Antec SLK3000B. The Zalman and rear Panaflo fans are also controlled by the Abit AX8 MB.

Yea this is why I have a DFI nF4-Ultra. I want every penny out of my CPU.

**on a side note my god damn processor still isn't here :|**

Dan, ever get your CPU? I expect week+ from west coast here to IA/MN, so I would think 8-9 business days should get it to you...

My OC results: 310x9=2790mhz @ 1.72v

I am very pleased, especially since I'm at FX-57 levels with a $115 processor.

This chip is in a DFI nF4 Ultra-D with a xp-120 and Panaflo M fan.

The processor has hit the "wall", it won't clock higher no matter how much voltage I throw at it.

Wow that is a high voltage for just air cooling? What are your temps like with that overclock?

They don't go over 45 during Prime95.

I find that very hard to believe. 1.72 volts is alot.
Have any screen shots for us?

Well I backed down on the OC, it was starting to be unstable for no reason. 2.7 w/ 1.58v, I think this is more sensible anyways.

yeah, but they've also now got the new E6 revision of the 3000+ Venice--ADA3000DAA4BW--for $117.42 plus shipping. (please forgive me if this has already been mentioned.)

that's a friggin' good question. I haven't really searched for any reviews yet, but I did hear--although can't vouch for its accuracy--that the memory controller is improved, allowing for better dual channel utilization of four DIMM sockets simultaneously. I also heard someone say that an amenable E6 3000+ should be able to do 2.8 on systems that allow good E3 chips to do 2.7. Whether that's mere hopeful speculation or not I don't know.

Who wants to buy my Venice E3? I am running 4x512 right now, so its unfortunate that a more a better 4 dimm chip has to come out.
