Athlon 750 performance on ASUS A7V

I am currently running my Athlon Tbird 750 on an ASUS A7V using the jumper free setting and letting the bios set the settings. I heard I would get better performance if I manually set the jumpers instead of using jumper free mode? Any ideas would help and save me the trouble and setting jumpers and find out it doesn't matter.
