Will my currenty Gigabyte K8NS NF-3 board be able to handle the new dual core Athlons with they come out or will I have to yet again buy a new motherboard?

Pretty sure it's only going to use one mem controller.
Although Quad Channel memory could be interesting...

Indeed.
Since the AMD64's already show no improvement (o.k. 2% for the most part) going from single channel to dual channel, going to quad controller for dualcore would not make any sense. The current 6.4 should be perfect for the dualcores (AMD's of course)
