IN theory!!! A bios update if your manufacturer so choses to support it......Sckt 939 is the socket needed and how refreshing a company like AMD (cough Intel cough) chose to not screw us over and force use to get yet another platform before the socket before it even got cold.....

Sorry that it's off topic but, I would like to know:
Are the new dual cores going ot have a memory controller for each core or a single controller for both?

It would be sweet to use current Socket 939 based motherboards, specifically the ones that use AGP. I am not ready to spend $300 on another video card any time soon.

Maybe a simple BIOS upgrade could fix it, I am sure it depends on the chipset as well. Oh well, I am open for suprises. As long as our current 939 boards arent useless, I am happy!

Pretty sure it's only going to use one mem controller.

Although Quad Channel memory could be interesting...

Since the AMD64's already show no improvement (o.k. 2% for the most part) going from single channel to dual channel, going to quad controller for dualcore would not make any sense. The current 6.4 should be perfect for the dualcores (AMD's of course)

I agreed to it being interesting, not economical.

It doesn't appear on any roadmap shiwing into 2Q of 06....if it appeared anywhere maybe in the l;aptop arena....

Like mentioned above tit is likely the single channel memory controller would severely hamper the effectiveness of the dual core and I doubt AMD would do this.....INtel did it cause they had no time....

I believe the dual cores will have a single memory controller that can do dual channel. IIRC the memory controller is actually connected to a crossbar latch. On a single core this sits around doing nothing since all of the data is going the same way, but on the dual cores that crossbar latch will go into action directing memory to the right core.
