Notice futurepowerpc has the 939's listed in the 754 catagory? I called a sales rep and he didn't understand why that was incorrect. Anyway with free shipping and like $3 for insurance and rushed delivery - it was a deal. Let's just hope it's the right one.

UPDATED: DO NOT order from Futurepowerpc. They said they had the cpu as out of stock this morning, and then available. I placed the order and then was told they were out of stock until next week. They hung up on me and kept me on hold repeatedly.

ya i noticed that, but the specs were right. they mention winchester, 939, 90nm, and its a boxed proc as well. I will see what they say, but the eta 1/10/05 that was listed on their site has been removed so i assume they have stock. (my order went through)

I ordered one too, and then the order went to "ETA". They changed it this morning to "Limited Quantity". I called the company and they said they're still on backorder. Check your order. Did you get an email saying it was on ETA? I did....

Ok,
Update from FuturePowerPC:

They are in stock, with the s939 retail winchester 90nm processor.

Price is $289. They are shipping out 1/12/05.

Got a hold of customer service, they checked my order number, and said it was processed, shipping out wednesday.

He was aware of this processor being misplaced in the socket 754 section, but confirmed it indeed was a s939 winchester.

Get em while they are last, gonna post this in hot deals....

These s939 retail winchester 90nm processors are NO LONGER AVAILABLE at FutrePowerPC -- I just called them and spoke with a sales rep. ETA is 01/19/05

I went and settled for a 3200. The way I look at it is when they are in stock, the prices will rise much like everything else that is hard to come by. I wouldn't order from futurepc. They advertised that the chips were in stock and moments after I ordered from them I got an email stating that they were backordered. Do some research on the web - the place has done this to several people. It seems they string you along until the product actually comes in. For $100 less you can just OC a 3200 200mhz and achieve 3500 speeds. I really wanted a 3500 but I'm not going to wait any longer. I'll take the $100 I saved and blow it on something else.

Ok NewEgg is listing the 90nm 3500+ (barebone) OEM version now for $305.00

If someone goes with the OEM, what should they be aware of - differences in warrenties, packaging, durability, etc etc...

For me, the biggest reason I will not buy an OEM chip is because it only has a 1 year warranty on it. A Retail PIB will have a Manufacturer 3year warranty. Plus it's a little harder to get a defective\remarked\illegal chip from a PIB

Also with a PIB you get a Manfacturer approved heatsink fan and a nice little AMD sticker to put on the outside of the case.

Today NewEgg is listing the OEM 3500+ for $295. The prices are dropping on the OEM version of these processors, but still there hasn't been any retail versions anywhere in a few weeks now

The retail price on the 3500+ increased over at zipzoomfly - they were listing it out of stock and the price being $299, not they are listing it for $308 and still out of stock.

Here is the updated list:

zipzoomfly $308 (retail) - Out Of Stock

zipzoomfly $299 (bare cpu) was $320

monarchcomputer $329 (retail)

monarchcomputer $285 (bare cpu) was $251

newegg $295 (bare cpu) was $325

pagecomputers $290 (retail)

futurepowerpc $289 (retail) IN STOCK!!!! 1/10/05

nowmicro $299 (retail) coupon code: amdcust

Thanks for the update -- BUT Futurepowerpc does NOT have any (retail) in stock despite what they claim -- just keep asking different sales reps or order one -- I don't think you'll be happy with the results.

I looked at nowmicro, got the price down to $299, but their shipping is expensive, the cheapest shipping - you can get is ground for $10.50 :Q which brings the price up to $309.50

I'm not sure if I trust the processor being shipped ground either.

I'm waiting up on the nForce4 motherboards from either MSI or DFI, so until then - they got stick those overpriced 3500+'s up where the sun don't shine until they go back down where it should be priced - should be a few days to a week.

Also snagged an OEM 3500+ for $251 - before their nice $30 increase. With a Neo2 Platinium and Mushkin TCCD ram I have cranked out a super pi time of 31 seconds and have it at 2.65 (295:245). Very happy thus far though it runs warmer than I expected even with an XP-90 and a high cfm fan...

Its not *really* running that warm imo, the Neo2 is smokin serious crank before it reports temps

I also got the OEM 3500+ for $251 and Neo2 from monarch, my cpu has great batch numbers and runs like a champ, but even after reseating my hsf (as5) I still get insane temps (45 idle/53+ load) but the hsf barely gets warm finger > sensor
