No actual product to show? Well then show me a 4870.Originally posted by: munky
You're "wowed" by the fact that NV is releasing a factory OC'd 9800gtx (which still costs more than a 4850), giving it a confusing name, and spreading rumors with no actual product to show?
So wait AMD finally releases a card to match the 9800GTX and all it takes is a minor clock bump and driver tweak to rain on their parade. That's just an illusion from those green tinted glasses... In reality, the 9800gtx needs an OC just to match a 4850,
Early reviews show the old 9800GTX doing just fine against the 4850, so a minor clock bump and driver tweak is hardly a miracle. It's only standard. The rumor IS the spoiler... I don't believe in miracle drivers, especially the kind that works magic for a 2 year old architecture without IQ cheats and hacks.
I wouldn't trust a reviewer this ignorant about graphics..You will have sheer decoding perfection on both the HD 4850 and 4870. Low CPU utilization whilst scoring maximum image quality. One improvement has been made as well: you can now upscale your 1920x1080 streams fine towards for example a 2560x1600 sized monitor (no more black borders).

That was my point as he mentioned the 4870 first and then knocks the 9800GTX+ for not being out yet. Pure hypocrisy.Originally posted by: tuteja1986
"No actual product to show? Well then show me a 4870. " WHERE IS THIS 9800GTX+ ?
" Early reviews show the old 9800GTX doing just fine against the 4850 " MM.. Were is the result with link to back your argument.

AMD releases a card that beats the 9800gtx and costs less. All NV has done is spread rumors on how they plan to "rain on the parade"So wait AMD finally releases a card to match the 9800GTX and all it takes is a minor clock bump and driver tweak to rain on their parade.
If the 9800gtx was doing so fine against the 4850 then why is NV spreading all the damage control rumors?Early reviews show the old 9800GTX doing just fine against the 4850, so a minor clock bump and driver tweak is hardly a miracle. It's only standard.

mmm... if they meant 1920x1200... and no more black borders as in, no borders on all FOUR sides...
But that doesn't make sense, there is no such thing as 1920x1200 content... all HD is 1080p/i or 720p/i.
And even then it is often 23:1 ratio so it comes with black borders on top and bottom

Huh? NV has produced 3 generations of product (G80, G92, GT200) now without answer from ATI. RV770 is their first competitive product in almost 2 years but its still competing more against last-gen than current products. Its their 3rd refresh of essentially the same part and as I said originally, it would've actually been impressive if it had launched against G92 and not GT200.

Due to AMD unexpectedly lifting the NDA five days sooner than planned, we have not been able to go as in-depth in this review as we typically do. We returned with cards one day after AMDs press event, which was merely yesterday.
Who even mentioned the 260? You can't show me one even though you brought it up. Just admit to being a hypocrite. It's the first step for your recovery.Originally posted by: munky

It beats it? In every game? Please show that link. It costs less? Please link to newegg how much a 4850 costs. You got nothin'.AMD releases a card that beats the 9800gtx and costs less. All NV has done is spread rumors on how they plan to "rain on the parade"
What damage control. They are dropping the price on their last gen card and providing a new driver and clock bump for it. This is pretty standard stuff. Where have you been? So now ATI finally releases a new card to compete in the last gen and you think that's news....If the 9800gtx was doing so fine against the 4850 then why is NV spreading all the damage control rumors?

And black borders are a good thing as you generally want to view video in it's original aspect ratio whenever possible.

Go back and re-read the post. I'm discussing the 4850, and it definitely wasn't me who mentioned the 4870 first.
Are they only flawed when they show the 4850 winning?
