so did i read correctly that ATi's AMD mb using the 580 chipset is postponed for a few more months???

not a few more months but weeks. RD580 mobos should begin appearing online around middle to the end of Feb. Asus' A8R32-MVP will be one of the first out of the door at launch.

i think they might save the 600 for the DDR2 mb's and i think it was the middle of the year but don't quote me

it's about 80% dearer than the ASUS RD480 board going by the UK price that I've seen - pretty much in line with A8N32

UK price incl. sales tax for A8R-MVP is ~£80, for the A8R32-MVP it currently looks ~£140.

the board by Asus looks pretty impressive. But it looks like the vcore tops out at 1.65 meaning for me with an Opteron 170 to arrive shortly, the vcore ceiling is a little too short if i plan to do some serious overclocking. Although the rest looks like a sure winner. incase you haven't checked the front page of Anandtech, an artilce about the 580 is up there
