As soon as I log in 8/10 times I would get either VPU recovery error, or Blue Screen of Death.
I used Omega version of Catalyst 4.9 drivers.
The VS .NET was is an "old" problem. I experienced it with Catalyst 4.7, Omega version of 4.7 and Omega version of 4.9 drivers.
I installed 4.3 Catalyst drivers. It stoped crashing right after log in. I could even open new project in VS .NET without a problem. Then restart later, when I tried to create a new project File/New Project.
If I remember correctly there was a restart before it, when the screen just turned of. The screen went black, but few seconds later it came back and it did display a New Project window. Although graphics on some of the applications like Zone Alarm and ASUS PC Probe were a bit messed up. Restart later when I tried to create new project in VS .NET it went back to crashing, displaying blue screen of death and saying that infinite loop message.
I then decided to install Control Panel. As soon as I restarted it went back to crashing right after log in, with those VPU recovery errors. After I disable VPU recovery and turned of fast write, it booted up normally. Still crashes when I try to start a new project in VS.NET. I think the problem is with VPU recovery.
I don't know could my MB driver be to blame? I installed 3in1 drivers from ASUS website and AGP Drivers (aka miniport drivers), from AMD website.
I think I can uninstall AGP Drivers just by going to Add/Remove programs, but how can I uinstall 3in1 drivers? Also how do I reinstall default Windows XP drivers. I heard they work just fine with my old MB.
I have ASUS A7m266 MB.
