AudioTron. Anyone have one??

Been looking at this. Its exactly what my uncle wants for his entertainment system. And quite actually, it wouldn't look so bad in my setup either.

I've read a few reviews but would like to hear form the community. Does anyone have one, know of someone who does? If so what are your/their thoughts?????

I would like to have one, but from reading the product specs, I found out that it uses your phone line to play music. Please correct me if I read wrong. That was really the main reason that I lost interest in it. There were a few that were made by Gateway and Dell around the same time that the AudioTron came out, which streamed music over an ethernet network. I'd like to have one, but unfortunately,...I have no money Hope this helps you out.

Huh? It may use your phone line but it won't interfere with your DialTone (meaning you can still use your phone and have this use your wires). Thats the new Home Networking standard. Kind of like how DSL works. It uses a different frequency. Anyway, you can also have it use CAT5 cabling should you have that wired in your home. Just hook it up to your router and you're good as gold.

I am prepping the house for a network drop from the upstairs computer room to the den downstairs where the home audio stuff is.

I am using regular CAT5, the machine can accomodate both 10 base-T and the phone line network as well.

It does not use 'the phone line' to play music, it uses it in the same manner to transmit the data as you would if you were using the phoneline for a network connection.
