Friends,

Like many others, I jumped on the cheap 1440p bandwagon over a year ago, taking a risk on the Auria EQ276W 27" IPS @ Microcenter. A major problem with these monitors is the low-quality power bricks which come with the unit. Many of them go out while the monitor is still under warranty and to Auria's parent company's credit, they seem to be repaired with little fanfare.

Sadly, I am two months out of warranty. I've checked with EQD and they say no dice on post-warranty support...you can't even buy adapters directly from them. Supposedly a technician is going to contact me with options, but I'm not holding my breath. Microcenter has been similarly unhelpful.

Anyone successfully replace your power brick with something you bought online? Most of the websites that offer the exact part seem sketchy, with terrible BBB ratings. Cost is quite high, in the $60-plus range.

This has been suggested on another message board, but it appears to be one amp short on output, which seems to be trouble:

Any advice would be appreciated.

I feel your pain. I did a google search and then ran the sellers through resellerratings and they all bomb. Have you considered taking the unit to a local electronics repair store and see if they can fix it?

For anyone looking for a solution, I don't have one. However, I do know what's not working!

My power brick has historically run very hot and the monitor would often turn off if the power brick became too hot. Therefore, I have the power brick stored on top of my computer case with the widest sides of the brick in the air for passive heat dissipation. This worked for many months. Last night, I smelled burning and saw smoke coming from the 3-prong jack in the power brick. Thankfully I unplugged it before it became a fire hazard!

I had previously purchased a 24V-6A output, 100-240V 1.8A input power brick off of eBay because of my initial issues with the monitor shutting off due to the power brick overheating, but it does not work with the Auria EQ276W. While the output voltage/amperage matches the OEM power brick, the input amperage is lower (3A on the OEM, 1.8A on the replacement).

The green LED on the power brick lights up if the monitor end of the power cable is unplugged, but the LED turns off (and no power is transmitted) when I plug the power cable into the monitor.

OEM power brick:
Model: LP-2460
Input: 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 3A
Output: 24V, 6A

Non-functioning replacement power brick:
Model: PA-1700-02
Input: 100-240V, 50/60Hz, 1.8A
Output: 24V, 6A

If anyone has any solutions for a replacement power brick, please chime in!

The replacement supply probably doesn't have the correct plug wiring and you're actually grounding one of the power pins at the monitor. There should be a plug wiring diagram on the bottom of the brick.

I wouldn't try to just swap around wires between the brick and the plug because you don't have full control over how they are connected to the pins. Best bet would be to find a plug that is wired correctly and splice that onto the new supply.
