I bought a 2000 Toyota Corolla CE 4DR in Aug 03. The dealership set me with the insurance company, which is what I've stuck with until now.

A discussion at work sparked my curiousity, and I ran online quotes using the same coverage amounts at State Farm, All State, and Progressive's websites. State Farm had the best rate, about 185 per month, with roughly double the coverage I currently have. The others were about 190 to 230 per month. All policies semi-annual. Incidentally, I'm paying about 276 per month right now. I'm 21 years old, spotless driving record.

I think I can feel my blood begining to boil . . .

Geico doesn't make those commercials for the fun of it though that one with the toys was quite funny

Saving about 100 bucks on auto insurance will be wonders for my finances.

You should never keep the insurance that your dealership sets you up with.

I bought a 2003 Toyota Camry LE 4DR in Aug '03. I used the insurance company that the dealsership set me with for only 1 month and I paid around the same amount you did. During that month, I researched rates and received the best quote from esurance.com. I paid $730 for the first 6 months, $778 for the next 6 months, and then $662 after that. I'm 22 years old and also have an impeccable driving record, which is apparently reflected on my current discounted rate.

At least you figured it out now instead of 5 years later.
