MS OfficeXP and WinXP both have some pretty inovative stuff.
I can see more companies going after M$ b/c WinXP replaces a lot of software: it's not just the browser anymore, but WinXP seems to do away with the need for WinZip, DirectCD, Easy CD Creator, and a host of other software as it is all built into the OS.

With that said, I was most impressed with the X-Box demos. I think M$ has a winner here. Kudos to nVidia for their GPU. Most impressed! I'm not into consoles, but I may have to get an X-Box! Great games line-up too.

They actually did have two or three lock-ups with OfficeXP, but WinXP never really crashed.

Of course WinXP will &quot;suck&quot; to an extent right now as nothing in the way of drivers has been offically released by hardware manufacturers.

The drivers will come, in time, (hopefully a lot sooner than later) but once the drivers are released, things should be looking up for WinXP.

I went today too, I got visio, sharepoint, and an office xp sampler, Map point and winxp preview will be mailed to us also got a shirt, notebook, couple of pens, buncha coupons.........

I was on the wait list for my event, I got my ticket in the mail tuesday, then on wednesday I got an e-mail saying &quot;sorry but the event is still full, mail your ticket in to get the same package as attendees&quot; well, I just showed up and gave them my ticket, my name wasnt on their list and I told them I was on the wait list, they gave me my stuff and a big chocolate chip cookie and a coke and showed me to my seat

That was a damn boring event. 2 hours of watching an infomercial for some 30 day trial software, a nice notebook, tshirt, and a bunch of ads and pamphlets. It was funny when Office froze though.

Yeah, the controller looked pretty funky.

Kinda like a overgrown Sega Genesis controller.
All black. With a great big neon green X on the center.

They showed a montage of many games.
And demoed two...

Project Gotham Racing - He raced aroung a realistic Times Square at night. Detailed background textures. Great lighting effects. Was funny when he was showing off the Ferrari but it was covered in shadows so you couldn't see anything.

Amped: Freestyle Snowboarding - Looked pretty good if you like this type of game. Apparently the courses are all based off of real ones down to nearly every tree.

Actually, he did park the Ferrari 355 under a lamp at the end and did a 3rd person 360 around it, showing the damage. That was impressive with the dynamic lighting FX. Plus, seeing the lights of the buildings reflect off of the wet streets was cool.

The best part was watching their faces whenever there was a glitch: kinda like a frown and a smirk rolled into one as they tried to remain calm during the live broadcast.

They told us they would send WinXP and MapPoint 2002. I'll believe that when I see it! I got the trial version of Visio and the coupon for Office XP, which expires 06/30/2001! I also got the pen, t-shirt, booklet, etc.
