Is ghost still the standard in hard drive imaging? I'd like something I don't have to install and can run off a thumb drive/cd.

Acronis TrueImage can create a bootable CD.

You'd have to install it once to create the bootable media, but it can be uninstalled after that. For basic imaging, you can do everything you need to do from the bootable CD.

Well pretty much. I am still using ghost to clone my hard drive. It is easy to use. I don't know about
other software but I like ghost!

Yeah, Norton Ghost gets my vote too. It's easy and gets the job done perfect.

I really like Acronis True Image

I give my vote to Acronis True Image. Ghost has screwed up too many times in the distant past for me to trust it again.

Thanks to for his post in the Free Stuff forum for a free copy of Acronis True Image 10 Personal Edition. This is the full version, not a demo. They have a newer version, True Image 2009, but if this works for your needs, the price is right.
