Lexx is really bad scifi, but it has titties...

The Star Trek: Voyager episode "The Swarm" is THE ABSOLUTE WORST episode of any scifi I have ever seen on television, period.

Andromeda, Farscape, and BSG are completely unrealistic. Especially BSG. If they were actual military, I would expect them to act like it. For instance, There's one episode where that asian chick flies into a battle star to set a nuke. Everythings normal until they actaully get around to setting the nuke. First of all, she WALKS around the ship, and takes about 3 min to set the nuke. Then a bunch of her clones show up and she freaks, and barely makes it out alive. If she was military, the nuke would need about ten seconds of work to arm it, and then they would get the hell out of there. Similar to the people in War of the Worlds movie. Big hole in the ground + growing cracks, yet they don't really run until the thing starts shooting people. I for one would have been running my ass off as soon as the earth started to open up.

I thought Andromeda was fairly entertaining. Not great Sci-Fi, though.

I thought Enterprise was horrible and I generally liked the other Star Trek series. Enterprise made Voyager look great.

When I was a kid, I remember a movie where the rocket pilots were trying to capture asteroids in a trap door
as they flew through the Asteroid Belt - if they got one lined up wrong it caused the pilot to rupture his suit
and he instantly became a skeleton.

Cleopatra 2525, Sliders (after Arturo died). I also really dislike ST:TOS and Babylon 5, but most geeks would disagree with me on those, I think.

Here's a classic bad SciFi film trying to follow on the heels of Star Wars - Battle Beyond the Stars starring John Boy from the old "The Waltons" tv show.

I think I saw the main hero spaceship from this show in about two other bad scifi movies.

REALLY??? I GOTTA SEE THIS FIREFLY

I was hooking on Firefly since the first episode, I was so dissapointed when they canceled it. I just hope the movie did well enough for them to make another movie and/or new episodes, but I doubt that will happen.

As for the crappy Sci-Fi stuff, I would agree that Andromeda is one of the worst. I can't really comment on some of the older stuff like the original BSG because I've only started to watch scifi shows recently.

Serenity also kicked lots and lots of ass, I can't beleive more people didn't go see it.
The usual response I get when I ask someone "Have you seen Serenity?" is "Whats that?!??"

This topic is just sending bad scifi movies running through my head now.

There's also Deep Star Six starring one of the dads from "My Two Dads" and Leviathan. On top of being bad movies, they made the mistake of being underwater movies that came out around the same time as The Abyss.

Seaquest constantly went back and forth between good shows and flat-out stupid shows. My favorite "bad" episode was the one with the prehistoric 200 foot long crocodile. Out of nowhere, Lucas (the 16 year old computer whiz kid) became this prehistoric dinosaur expert. Instead of killing the gigantic croc, they decided to save it and put it back on ice. Unfortunately, the did this by drugging it, towing it to an ice flow, then shooting torpedoes at an iceberg causing the croc to be seemingly crushed by giant chunks of ice.

LOFL I was thinking of Cleopatra as soon as I came into this thread

The only thing good about Cleopatra was Gina Torres (aka Zoe from Serenity). She's always been a hottie to me. Cleopatra was so bad though that I couldn't watch her in it...LOL Ironically, she was also in M.A.N.T.I.S.

Dude you took that part in BSG way out of context. At that point in the show, the asian chick (Boomer) was wayy messed up in the head. She was suspecting that she may be a Cylon, not a human as she believe she was her whole life. She was very distraught and was questioning her own existence. How would you feel if you were in that position and you suddenly found yourself surrounded by naked robot clones of yourself?? And have you actually set a military nuke before? How do you know it only takes 10 seconds? That doesn't seem very long to me.

I do completely agree with you about War of the Worlds though.

Edit: I meant Cylons, not aliens

speaking of crappy movies on sci-fi, what the hell is up with all the stupid natural disaster movies and the animal attack movies???? that doesn't really qualify as sci-fi in my book.

sci-fi used to be really good, now you're lucky to find anything decent on it. i miss all the old sci-fi shows they used to run.

With a young Molly Ringwold. Tried to make a Han Solo movie and failed miserably, but great movie for laughs. Truly hilarious. Next time you get smashed in front of a movie, go for this one.

if its the one i think i saw i didn't think it was that bad.

It's because instead of developing quality original content, Sci-Fi decided to go with buying broadcast rights to Sci-Fi and borderline Sci-Fi movies that would normally go straight to video. Now all these bad film producers see a goldmine in this and are constantly producing bad movies just for this reason.

The most unintentionally funny one I saw recently was one with Coolio playing an Army Captain fighting Pterodactyls in Turkey.

It really is like watching MST3K now minus the two robots and human in the bottom corner of the screen.

what was that CG animated show on sci-fi? it has a sex android, a blobby alien as the captain, a lizardlike alien as the pilot, some freaky cow looking alien with 3 breasts, and John Melendez (from howard stern as the ships voice). bought the 1st season because the commercials for it looked funny, but i got it and it wasn't that funny.

damn, can't think of what its called and my friend borrowed it from me.

Tripping the Rift. They were billing it as kind of like South Park in space but it truly does suck. I've never been able to sit through an episode.
