Turkish Star Trek and Turkish Star Wars: http://www.thewavemedia.com/pagegen.php?pagename=article&articleid=22646
I know I'll get bashed for this, but in a way, Star Trek: The Next Generation. It displayed humanity as a dry, passionless race. The only culture involved Shakespeare and classical music (well, the occasional jazz). A lack of subtley in terms of social messages, a lot of the characters seemed fairly interchangible due to their lack of personality. Pretty much all of the directors managed to get only mediocre performances out of the cast, even out of Patrick Stewart, who is a very good actor. This led to a slightly improved DS9, but then fell back into the other direction with Voyager and Enterprise. The movies Generations and ESPECIALLY Generations continued the vacuumless personalities. First Contact, on the otherhand, allowed the actors to actually ACT, show some characterization, do something other than sit around and praise Shakespeare. The action was good too, though I hate the Borg, but the portrayal of the characters was miles above the tv series.
Unlike the succeeding series, Star Trek didn't really have this problem. Kirk, Spock, and McCoy had very noticably different personalities, they were able to actually get on each others nerves, show a spine, etc. MUCH better. Movies, even the medioce ones, were the better than the Next Generation ones (with the exception of First Contact).

Andromeda, Farscape, and BSG are completely unrealistic. Especially BSG. If they were actual military, I would expect them to act like it. For instance, There's one episode where that asian chick flies into a battle star to set a nuke. Everythings normal until they actaully get around to setting the nuke. First of all, she WALKS around the ship, and takes about 3 min to set the nuke. Then a bunch of her clones show up and she freaks, and barely makes it out alive. If she was military, the nuke would need about ten seconds of work to arm it, and then they would get the hell out of there. Similar to the people in War of the Worlds movie. Big hole in the ground + growing cracks, yet they don't really run until the thing starts shooting people. I for one would have been running my ass off as soon as the earth started to open up.
Dude you took that part in BSG way out of context. At that point in the show, the asian chick (Boomer) was wayy messed up in the head. She was suspecting that she may be a Cylon, not a human as she believe she was her whole life. She was very distraught and was questioning her own existence. How would you feel if you were in that position and you suddenly found yourself surrounded by naked robot clones of yourself?? And have you actually set a military nuke before? How do you know it only takes 10 seconds? That doesn't seem very long to me.
I do completely agree with you about War of the Worlds though.
Edit: I meant Cylons, not aliens

MANTIS Freakin' ruled. So did Viper. The original Seaquest kinda sucked, after watching it now, but DSV was cool. Original BSG was corny, but the new one is teh pwnage.

If that was the case, then she shouldn?t have been assigned for the mission in the first place, which makes her C.O. AND her retarded.
