Protester: a person who publicly demonstrates strong objection to something

Back on topic, discussing the GIF and video: A violent protestor was physically prevented from performing a violent act against a non-violent (but highly provocative) street preacher. That's what I saw in the video.

Someone there was making and handing out protest signs in response. Even tried to hand one to the skater who had just thrust his skateboard threateningly at the street preacher. I’m pretty sure they’re together, since the two on the ground are making more than two signs.

I can’t be the only one to notice, right?
