Barton Multipler Locked?

Beware, Overclockers Forum and others are reporting that AMD has begun locking the Bartons:brokenheart:

This isnt that big of a deal as the 2500+ which is the most popular can easily go too 2.2 GHz by just upping the FSB. Past 2.2 you cant get much more out of it no matter what you do.

Not a problem in my opinion, AMD's new "security" measures to prevent overclocking are far worse then Intel's. To date every one of their Socket-462 processors have been hacked one way or another...

This is surprising considering they have been quoted as saying that they have nothing against oc'ing and anytime someone can get more performance from their chip they should. That's the dnuggett version of their statement becasue I can't remember exactly how it went, and it would require me to look it up to quote them exactly. That was the jist of it though.

Yea, too bad new mults are going to be locked. Good thing that nforce 2 ultra 400 boards give users a lot of flexibility with the FSB and the PCI/AGP lock. With good ram, we should still be able to get our desired overclocks.

I don't know but I see a lot of people with 2.2GHZ+ overclocks with their 2500+ chips, I myself am running it at 2.41GHZ, not to bad in my opinion.

And I'm stuck at 2.0GHz (200x10) /w 1.7V :/

Currently limited by my PC2700 memory. Was quite surprised it ran 400MHz at 2-2-3-11 though

I recently got a 2500+ barton & it is unlocked. keyed as follows:
AQXEA0331 (week 31, 2003) do you know when they started locking?

supposedly they started somewhere around week 39+
