back to baseball. i think i have seen 3 total games this year. I even passed a chance to go to a cubs game. just no excitement.

Either way, 162 games is an overkill. No one ever watches all 162 games...seriously. I'm a huge rays fan and i catch maybe 1-2 games a week and go to about 2 games every other month, when you think about it, there is no way in hell someone can devote 500+ hours a year to baseball.

You cut it down and it becomes more bearable.

If there's one thing that baseball is... it's too long. 9 innings... too long. An at-bat... too long (fucking foul balls & pitchers taking their sweet-ass time). Commercial breaks... too long, too many. 3-game series... too long (unnecessary). One hundred fricken sixty-two games... TOO LONG. Everything I've had to mention that's wrong with it... TOO LONG. I try to watch a game while enjoying my pizza and coke and wind-down time... can't even get through an entire game.

Even with 40 minutes of intermissions in hockey, that's still faster than a baseball game. For fucks sake man...

You and rh71 prove my point about if changes were made, those advocating for change still wouldn't watch/go any more. Frankly, it would alienate a lot of other fans. I caught probably 155 out of 162 Phillies games. I've been to 25+ games this season.

Heck, Phillies game or not, I'll watch. This past Sunday, I watched all three games. I watched both games on Saturday and I'm going to watch the Rangers game tonight.

It's not too bad now, but the weather can be pretty awful for the WS. Ask my '06 Tigers. Opening days are just as bad sometimes.

I might watch baseball if it were cut down to an NFL-like schedule. As it is now, the number of games makes them relatively uninteresting, and it's post-season being during football season doesn't help. I wish football, baseball, and basketball would move their schedules so that only one is playing at a given time, but the three of them cover the whole year. That would rock.

Those 20 games really change the complexion of the game though. How many teams in the past few years have gone on a tear/imploded at the end of the season? It's a long season about endurance, not being hot at the right time. I also disagree with a 7 game LDS. Just doesn't seem meaningful.

I do agree with an expanded strike zone. I would also like to see more transparency with the discipline of umpires. Yes, they are human and mistakes are to be expected, but some of them were out of line this season. And I'm not talking about blown calls. With that said, I don't believe instant replay should be expanded beyond fair/foul of HRs... although maybe a general fair/foul determination in the playoffs.

It would definitely change the game a bit, but I'd rather have a more robust postseason than the last 20 of the season. It would be a huge change. It also won't happen.

My issue with the umps is that they are all so different. The strike-out to walk ratio is all over the place. With pitch f/x the plate ump should have an earpiece that beeps when it's a strike or at least mlb should use pitch f/x to audit umps.

I also would looove to see mlb find a way to make winning the division more important. The wild card is great, but the Yankees and Rays were tied for first headed into the last game of the season and for the most part nobody cared. Some ideas that have been tossed around are adding two more wild cards and giving the division winners homefield advantage throughout the first series.

It would also be neat to see the draft replaced by an auction format.

These are all dreams. MLB won't change, but it would sure be nice.

Truthfully if they just games down to 90-120 min, i'd be happy.
