The only similarity is they're both hero/ability based. Other than that Overwatch is hero based TF2, Battleborn is FPS MOBA. I think both games will equally suffer from one person not playing their role, but Overwatch matches seem like they could be carried more easily from one really good player.

so there is no single player campaign of any substance where you can dick around at your leisure?

I see dozens of classes that max out at level 10, whatever that means, which leads me to think: no. :\

There's 10 story missions that take maybe an hour apiece. You can also do them in "Advanced" mode. They give you the same unlocks/gear/levels/etc. that multiplayer does (more gear, actually).

That said, don't buy the game for single player.

The items are rewarded at mission-end, which you can create loadouts for to use in additional missions or multiplayer. Ultimately this is a multiplayer focused game. Single player serves as an alternative diversion and a good way to introduce players to the different heroes.

This is essentially first person Heroes of the Storm (moba mechanics are most similar to HotS, than DotA or LoL).

The single player missions are actually quite fun, but crippled by the fact you're stuck on the same hero the whole time so it really gets same-y fast. They're fully scripted and voice acted though, and the loot is legit on Advanced difficulty. There's no game world or anything like what Borderlands has though.

I've never played a MOBA before so I'm pretty clueless on the multi-player side but I'm learning. Sadly this game currently has absolutely garbage match-making and inbalanced heroes. I don't believe for a second there's any ELO or hidden MMR going on here, either that or it gives up too quickly and just pairs people half-assed to get a match started.

With that said, I'm still enjoying the multi-player, it's rewarding to win and MOBA gameplay is fairly interesting but I was always turned off by the awful top-down view and 3rd person controls of other games. I also suspect as I level up more characters that I'll start to improve because the mutagens you earn appear to be really powerful from what I've seen thus far.

my 2 cents with this game...

1. its fun for a short while then it gets stupid boring quick.

2. the PVP matchmaking in this game is utterly BROKEN. Sure comand level doesnt mean anything however that only applies once u past a certain command level, especially when your entire team is lowbies and only has a select pool of characters to pick.

3. I AM REALLY REALLY REALLY getting tired of these games which demand u have a premade. The Division was one, and now this game is another, and so is Dreadnought.

So if your just interesting in getting a pew pew shooter with a PvE option which is random, meaning ur only given a choice of 3 maps which are randomly picked, then yea, this game is for you, however the PVP is broken, gearbox has no clue on how to make a proper PVP, and if they do fix it, i am guessing it will take massive amounts queue times which is why there not fixing it, so go with overwatch if you want this type of FPS moba.

And no its not even a moba because thos high level command point players will have legendary unlocks while u being a sub level 12 will be at the mercy of there "nomnomnom" rage.

Overwatch is the epitome of boring. The entire game revolves around forcing the correct group fight over a single objective over and over. Battleborn is more about maintaining a good flow; wave clears, lane rotations, harass, taking fights...

both...

as i said BB has:

1. boring and repetitive maps which would only be rewarding if it was a mmo...
Think of doing dungeons in a MMO, only, you get really no weapon drops.

2. Broken match making.

3. Lack of content and need to unlock characters to enjoy.
And some of the characters you wish to unlock will take HOURS upon HOURS.

There sure isn't great motivation to unlock new characters. I have unlocked I think 3 in 3-4 missions though.
